Elevate Your Flight Experience with Allegiant's Unique Altus Sol Wine

In a groundbreaking development in airline hospitality, Allegiant (NASDAQ: ALGT) has introduced a first-of-its-kind wine, Altus Sol, specifically crafted for enjoyment at high altitudes. Partnering with Sonoma Bespoke, an esteemed Napa-based winery, Allegiant has embarked on a journey to transform the traditional inflight experience by offering a bespoke wine that stands out even in the unique environment of a commercial aircraft.

The Inspiration Behind Altus Sol

Wine aficionados often face a common issue when enjoying a good bottle of wine at cruising altitude: the cabin pressure and dry air can dull delicate flavors, making even the finest wines taste flat. Aiming to counter this challenge, Allegiant, in collaboration with Sonoma Bespoke, created Altus Sol, designed from the ground up to retain its character and flavor in the skies. Dr. Robert Pellegrino from the Monell Chemical Senses Center affirms this claim, noting that sensory changes occur at 30,000 feet which affect the flavor profile of wines.

Crafting the Perfect Blend

The creation of Altus Sol involved meticulous planning and tasting sessions at altitude, ensuring that the wine would taste exceptional both on the ground and in-flight. This innovative collaboration enabled winemakers and airline representatives to experiment with various blends, ultimately resulting in a standout Cabernet Sauvignon—with notes reminiscent of cigar boxes and a crisp, fruit-forward Pinot Grigio. Both wines have been positively received, earning high ratings of 93 and 92 respectively from esteemed wine critic Jonathan Cristaldi.

A Distinctive Approach to Wine Selection

Unlike traditional wine offerings on airlines, which typically curate from existing selections, Altus Sol was crafted entirely from scratch based on altitude's unique effects on flavor. This exclusive approach allows Allegiant to offer a product that is as distinctive as it is delicious. Donny Sebastiani, Chairman of Sonoma Bespoke, expressed that specific grape lots were chosen for their aromatic qualities and natural sweetness, enabling them to shine at altitude, thus creating an unforgettable tasting experience for passengers.

A Thoughtful Design

In addition to the wine itself, Allegiant has put thought into every aspect of Altus Sol's presentation. The name
