Prophix® Unveils Insights from the 2025 Global Finance Leaders Survey
Prophix®, a recognized leader in financial performance management, has just published insights from its eagerly awaited 2025 Global Finance Leaders Survey. The research, which surveyed 751 finance professionals from key markets including the U.S., Canada, UK, France, Germany, Brazil, and Benelux, offers a detailed look into how finance leaders are navigating their roles and strategies in an era of rapid change.
Transformative Leadership Approaches
According to the survey, finance leaders are adopting different leadership styles to fit their organizational needs as they step into 2025. The findings categorize these approaches into three distinct groups:
Expanders (31%), who focus on driving rapid growth;
Catalysts (35%), who aim to enhance operational efficiency; and
Protectors (32%), who prioritize cautious resilience. This balance showcases the dynamic nature of finance leadership as professionals tailor their strategies to meet the unique demands of their organizations.
Optimism Amid Challenges
Despite the complexities in their roles, an impressive
91% of finance leaders expressed optimism regarding their companies' financial prospects for 2025—a significant increase from the previous year. This positive outlook is stimulating a willingness to embrace strategic risks and invest in new opportunities;
70% believe their organizations are now more receptive to risk-taking compared to 2024.
However, finance leaders still face significant hurdles, including:
- - Data reliability, timeliness, and accuracy (32%)
- - Talent management (32%)
- - Scaling processes to meet growth demands (30%)
- - Navigating economic uncertainty with agility (29%)
Digital Transformation Takes Center Stage
The survey highlights that digital transformation remains a top priority for finance leaders, with
74% dedicating more time to technology investments and implementations than ever before. Key areas of focus include cloud solutions, robust cybersecurity measures, and advanced finance software, all aimed at ensuring organizational resilience. Notably, leaders expressed the highest interest in technologies that could:
- - Futureproof their businesses (87%)
- - Enable flexible, real-time reporting (86%)
- - Facilitate advanced planning processes (86%)
Yet, the road to digital transformation is fraught with challenges—
75% of finance leaders reported some progress, but nearly half (46%) cited difficulties in identifying the right tools for their team's needs.
Addressing Talent Shortages
In light of these transformation challenges, many finance leaders feel increased pressure due to talent shortages.
43% of respondents believe their teams lack the necessary staffing to meet current demands, prompting many to rely on technology to enhance efficiencies. Furthermore, there is a growing need to attract and retain younger professionals, with desired skills including strong leadership, digital acumen, and experience with innovative technologies.
