The Japan Organic Cotton Association (JOCA) is excited to announce its 13th Organic Cotton Advisor Certification Course, set to commence on September 26, 2026. This unique educational program aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to address pressing social issues, including climate change, human rights, and sustainability, through the lens of organic cotton.

Why Organic Cotton?


In recent years, organic cotton has garnered attention as a gentle and sustainable material that significantly contributes to addressing social issues. In the face of climate change, ocean pollution, biodiversity loss, and child labor, it is essential to explore materials that not only support the environment but also promote ethical practices. This course is designed for individuals who wish to deepen their understanding of these pressing challenges in relation to organic cotton.

Course Structure


The course consists of nine sessions, including both online lectures and practical experiences, like site visits and workshops. Participants will engage in three online sessions, one hybrid session, and a full-day field practice tour in Yamanashi Prefecture:
  • - Session 1: September 26, 2026
  • - Session 2: October 3, 2026
  • - Session 3: October 17, 2026
  • - Session 4 (Field Tour): November 6, 2026
  • - Session 5 (Hybrid): November 7, 2026

Learning Outcomes


Upon completing the course and passing the certification exam, participants will receive a qualification number, a certificate of completion, and data for publication. The course will cover key topics such as:
