The Opening of the Financial Street Forum 2026: A Global Financial Connectivity Initiative

The Financial Street Forum 2026 Kicks Off in Beijing

On October 20, 2026, the much-anticipated Financial Street Forum 2026 officially began in Beijing, drawing a crowd of over 400 prominent guests from across the globe. The conference aims to address pressing issues that the global financial sector is currently facing, under the theme "Building an Open, Collaborative, and Inclusive Ecosystem for Global Financial Development."

This theme reflects the rapid changes occurring worldwide, which are unprecedented in the past century. Zeng Linfeng, the Executive Secretary-General of the Organizing Committee's Secretariat, emphasized that the global economy and financial systems are confronting various challenges in this swiftly changing environment. "Through openness, we urgently need to reach consensus, overcome difficulties via collaboration, and seek common ground while respecting differences through an inclusive approach," Zeng stated at the pre-conference press briefing.

The forum calls for enhanced coordination between the development and security of the financial sector. It proposes expanding development opportunities through global engagement, strengthening systemic resilience through collaboration, and achieving mutual benefits through inclusivity. Zeng highlighted the necessity for greater efforts to achieve these goals.

The four-day event encompasses a central forum, several parallel forums, and three conferences focusing on financial technology, insurance, and investments. The main forum features opening and closing ceremonies alongside five thematic events organized by key financial regulatory bodies such as the People's Bank of China, the National Financial Regulatory Authority, and the China Securities Regulatory Commission. Key leaders from leading global financial firms, including Standard Chartered and DWS Group, will gather on Thursday to share their perspectives on cross-border financial activities and collaboration amidst new global conditions.

Discussions will cover long-term investment opportunities in China's capital market, emphasizing the need for healthy interactions between the financial market and the real economy. Embracing an open philosophy, the parallel forums have invited both domestic and international government representatives, experts, academics, and members of international financial institutions. They will share insights on themes such as high-level financial sector opening and financial support for high-quality economic development.

The ultimate goal is to reinforce international financial cooperation and establish a more open, inclusive, and resilient financial environment that serves the real economy. As the conference unfolds, it will shed light on how global players can better navigate the evolving landscape of finance through collective efforts and shared knowledge.

The Financial Street Forum 2026 promises to be a significant milestone in fostering a cooperative dialogue among global financial leaders, setting the stage for a more interconnected and supportive financial ecosystem that addresses both contemporary challenges and future opportunities.
