Waterdrop Inc. Reports Second Quarter 2026 Financial Results

On September 8, 2026, Waterdrop Inc. (NYSE: WDH) unveiled its second quarter unaudited financial results for the period ending June 30, 2026. During this quarter, the company's operating revenue surged to RMB 1,448.2 million, reflecting a remarkable 72.8% increase year-over-year. This growth is coupled with a net profit attributable to ordinary shareholders of RMB 125.8 million, signifying the company's 18th consecutive quarter of profitability. Additionally, as of August 31, 2026, Waterdrop had repurchased approximately 62.9 million American Depositary Shares (ADSs) from the open market, showcasing a strong commitment to shareholder value.

Strong Revenue Growth

Waterdrop’s substantial performance for Q2 highlights not just financial growth, but also its strategic investment in AI technology. The firm aims to provide more accessible healthcare and financial services in the future, capitalizing on the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence.

Expanding Insurance Services

The insurance sector of Waterdrop continued its trajectory of solid growth, with related revenue jumping 80.5% year-over-year. The operating profit from the insurance division was recorded at RMB 183.6 million, showing a significant 20% increase quarter-over-quarter. An essential part of this success is attributed to the penetration of AI technology throughout the insurance value chain. The AI Medical Insurance Expert program contributed to this performance, increasing premiums by 25.6% over the previous quarter, while the first-year premiums for long-term insurance rose by a striking 33.4%.

Innovative Product Launches

In a bold move to break traditional barriers, Waterdrop has introduced ‘Rongyibao,’ which is a pioneering long-term critical illness insurance product that does not require health disclosure and offers five-year guaranteed renewability. This product covers more than 100 critical illnesses and features optional riders for additional benefits. Furthermore, Waterdrop expanded its ‘Jixing Gaozhao’ series with a lifetime specified disease insurance product that also eliminates health disclosure requirements.

Waterdrop Medical Crowdfunding Success

Waterdrop Medical Crowdfunding has achieved significant milestones, with approximately 499 million users contributing RMB 74.7 billion to support 3.82 million patients suffering from critical illnesses since its launch in 2016. The platform embodies the philosophy of “tech for good,” ensuring authenticity through rigorous case verification and transparent fund flow, leveraging AI technologies for enhanced reliability.

This quarter marked the introduction of AI into risk management, utilizing large model semantic parsing capabilities. This breakthrough established an intelligent identification framework for various high-risk scenarios, enabling precise detection of sensitive identities and unusual assets. As a result, the accuracy and efficiency of platform risk assessment have seen striking improvements.

Moreover, AI assistants have been deployed in 548 cities, providing uninterrupted support for fundraising users, particularly in remote areas and with less digital familiarity. This service encompasses comprehensive assistance from fundraising Q&A to health education, ensuring that critical illness relief is both accessible and efficient.

The E-Find Platform's Growth

Waterdrop’s digital clinical trial solutions, highlighted by the E-Find platform, reported net revenue of RMB 35.2 million, consolidating a 26.8% year-over-year growth. Partnerships have significantly expanded, with 255 pharma companies and CROs associating with Waterdrop. By June 30, 2026, the platform had successfully handled 1,873 clinical trial projects with over 17,052 enrolled patients.

Social Responsibility & Community Engagement

In a display of corporate social responsibility, Waterdrop responded swiftly to natural disasters in Guangxi and debris-flow incidents in Tibet. The company activated an emergency response team to deliver over 2,000 relief packages to affected regions, demonstrating its commitment to community support in crisis periods.

Shen Peng, Founder and CEO of Waterdrop Inc., expressed, “We have always positioned technology as our crucial driver.
