Universal Technical Institute Recognized for Quality and Student Achievement by ACCSC

Universal Technical Institute Earns ACCSC Honors

Universal Technical Institute (UTI), a prominent name in transportation, skilled trades, electrical, and energy education, has recently garnered significant recognition from the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). Four of its campuses were honored as part of the 2025 accreditation cycle, reflecting its dedication to educational excellence.

ACCSC Schools of Excellence

The campuses located in Lisle, Illinois, Mooresville, North Carolina, and Bloomfield received the distinguished title of ACCSC School of Excellence. This award represents the highest accolade that an institution can achieve from ACCSC, acknowledging rigorous adherence to accreditation standards and outstanding student achievement.

Tracy Lorenz, the president of UTI, emphasized that while each campus has its unique culture and strengths, they all share a deep commitment to high education standards and student performance. The continuous efforts from instructors and staff seek to equip students with essential skills for successful careers. Lorenz remarked that this recognition reflects UTI's dedication to quality training and personalized support.

UTI-Austin's Distinction

Additionally, UTI-Austin was designated as a School of Distinction, the highest honor awarded to newer campuses. This award signifies UTI-Austin's commitment to quality education and adherence to the rigorous standards set by ACCSC.

Both UTI-Lisle and UTI-Mooresville have previously received the School of Excellence award multiple times, while UTI-Bloomfield has enjoyed past recognition as a School of Distinction.

Recognition from ACCSC

Dr. Michale McComis, the executive director of ACCSC, congratulated UTI on this prestigious award. He highlighted the institution's commitment to fostering a community that prioritizes quality education and student success. ACCSC's endorsement is essential, as it recognizes the substantial efforts that UTI has made towards educational excellence.

The ACCSC is acknowledged by the U.S. Department of Education as the designated accrediting body for over 650 post-secondary trade and technical schools serving more than 150,000 students across the nation.

Striving for Excellence

The selection process for these honors was intensive, involving a comprehensive review of applications for accreditation and renewal submitted from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025. Out of more than 265 applications, only 19 institutions, including UTI’s campuses, achieved the School of Excellence designation according to the rigorous ACCSC criteria.
