The collective assembly of buyers has enabled them to establish an aggregated virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with Southern Power Company, allowing them to secure renewable energy credits generated by the solar facility's operations. This collaborative approach offers these businesses access to renewable energy sources that may not have been feasible individually, thereby promoting a more sustainable commercial environment.

Cisco stands out as the anchor buyer in this initiative, claiming renewable energy certificates (RECs) corresponding to a 50 MW chunk of the project. With key players like PTC—providing software for product lifecycle management—also joining the fray to secure a 10 MW R.E.C. contribution, the project underlines how collaboration can pave the way for impactful environmental stewardship. A notable healthcare company also receives RECs from the additional 20 MW capacity, reinforcing the sector's movement toward renewable energy.

This Phase II development follows the success of the first phase, wherein Thermo Fisher Scientific committed to guiding the project by signing as the sole offtaker for its initial 200 MW capacity back in December 2025. The NZCB's efforts have collectively contributed to over a gigawatt of new clean energy development, marking a crucial step in transitioning toward reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
