Trina Storage Achieves Milestone with First Energy Storage Project Completion in Europe
Trina Storage Completes First Elementa + Electra Energy Storage Project in Europe
Trina Storage has marked a significant milestone in its European operations by completing the delivery of its Gamma Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Romania. This project represents the first deployment of Trina's innovative Elementa + Electra integrated DC+AC solution architecture. With the shipment and site delivery finalized in late May 2026, installation activities have commenced following the successful arrival of systems in April 2026.
The Gamma project is located in Izvoarele, Giurgiu County and features a robust utility-scale energy storage system boasting 40MW/160.48MWh capacity, which is expected to be commissioned in the third quarter of 2026. The project is executed for LSG Building Solutions, further solidifying Trina's strategic partnerships in the region.
This pioneering deployment integrates 32 units of the Elementa 2 Pro battery storage system along with four Electra AC units, showcasing Trina Storage’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions in Europe. The Elementa 2 Pro is a vertically integrated system designed for utility-scale applications, featuring 314Ah cells that ensure both high energy density and efficient deployment capabilities. Alongside this, the Electra units enhance the system's performance by providing essential power conversion and medium-voltage step-up functionalities, promoting a seamless connection to the power grid.
The Gamma project aims to support various market needs, including ancillary services, wholesale market arbitrage, load balancing, and the integration of renewable energy. As Romania and Southeast Europe continue to expand their renewable energy portfolios, the demand for flexible energy storage solutions becomes increasingly critical. Trina Storage's innovative technology will play a vital role in stabilizing the grid, integrating renewables, and optimizing electricity markets in the region.
This accomplishment further underscores the increasing capabilities of Trina Storage in managing complex project environments in Europe, which include logistics coordination that spans multiple countries and local compliance procedures. According to Gabriele Buccini, Head of Trina Storage Europe, the Gamma project represents a noteworthy achievement that responds to the growing demand for comprehensive energy storage solutions that are both integrated and bankable, vital for achieving long-term grid flexibility and renewable energy integration.
Gerhard Lipkovich, CEO of LSG Building Solutions SLR, stated that selecting Trina Storage for this significant project reflects their dedication to enhancing reliable energy infrastructure in Romania. The collaboration is set to support the integration of renewable energy and contribute to the overall resilience of the grid while advancing long-term energy transitions.
In conclusion, the completion of the Gamma BESS project represents not just an important milestone for Trina Storage but also highlights the expanding role of integrated energy storage solutions. This project is set to bolster Europe's evolving energy landscape, supporting grid flexibility and ushering in a new era of renewable integration and efficient power systems globally.
