Munters Secures $82 Million Chiller Order for Data Centers Focused on AI

Munters, a leading provider of climate solutions, has successfully secured a noteworthy order worth 82 million USD for chillers from its Data Center Technologies (DCT) division. This contract emphasizes the company's strengthening position in the US market, particularly within the rapidly growing sector of artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing.

The order comes from a prominent data center colocation provider in the United States, reflecting Munters' expansion strategy that aims to cater to the specific cooling needs associated with AI applications. The chillers included in this deal are the Geoclima Circlemiser units, which Munters integrated into its product lineup following the acquisition of Geoclima in 2024.

As AI technology continues to gain traction, the demand for energy-efficient and flexible cooling solutions has surged. Munters' Circlemiser chillers are designed to deliver superior energy efficiency, allowing data center operators to minimize operating expenses. An added benefit of the Circlemiser design is its capability to offer enhanced cooling capacity while occupying a smaller physical footprint, making it particularly appealing for data centers where space is at a premium.

Stefan Aspman, President of DCT and Group Vice President of Munters, expressed pride in securing this order just over a year after the Geoclima acquisition. He remarked, "This contract highlights that our advanced technology aligns well with the rapidly evolving demands of the data center industry."

The deal is set to be reflected in Munters' order intake for the fourth quarter, with deliveries scheduled to commence in mid-Q2 and progressively increase through Q3 of 2026. This timeline indicates a strategic planning period that allows for adequate logistics and production capabilities to meet the customer's requirements.

Despite the current challenges, such as short-term tariffs due to initial sourcing of chillers from Europe, Munters is optimistic about the future. The company anticipates that these tariff impacts will persist until chiller production is fully operational in the United States. As part of its commitment to domestic production, Munters plans to establish a factory in Virginia, which is expected to be up and running by the end of Q1 2026. This facility will enable direct deliveries of their systems to US customers, further solidifying their market presence.

Munters' ability to adapt to the changing landscape of data center technology is undeniable, and this latest order signals the company's ongoing momentum in the AI sector. By continually innovating and expanding its product range, Munters is positioned to support the growing needs of high-efficiency cooling solutions necessary for AI-driven data centers. The company is committed to remaining at the forefront of this industry as it evolves further.

In the coming months, stakeholders, including investors and industry analysts, will be keeping a close eye on Munters' progress as they ramp up production and fulfill this substantial order. The future looks promising for Munters as they harness the transformative potential of AI to drive business growth and improve operational efficiency in data centers worldwide.
