Third Buddhist BAR Event: Discussing Life and Buddhism
Join us at the
third session of the Buddhist BAR on
September 10, 2026, hosted at
Sanbou BAR Hamamatsucho, Tokyo. This unique event will feature
Shinkawa Yuryu, a monk with an exceptional background, who transitioned from a startup entrepreneur to a devoted monk in the Shingon sect.
This meetup invites anyone interested in Buddhism to engage in an informal discussion about life and spirituality, all whilst enjoying drinks. Gone are the days of rigid sermons; this casual setting offers a more personal and relaxed approach to exploring Buddhist philosophy.
Background of the Event
Many individuals find the concept of Buddhism intimidating, associating it with the formality of temples and restrictive practices. Recognizing this, the Buddhist BAR was created as a friendly space where people can connect directly with monks and discuss Buddhist teachings over a drink. This event aims to break down barriers that prevent many from engaging with Buddhist concepts, making it accessible and relatable.
The guest speaker,
Shinkawa Yuryu, views Buddhism as a manual for living in the present, aiming to connect with our daily struggles and joys. His candid insights are designed to resonate with both those curious about Buddhism and those merely seeking inspiration for everyday living.
