The 5th Tokyo Medical Research Workshop: Evidence-Based maternity support
On October 17, 2025, the Tokyo Medical Research Institute will host its fifth annual public seminar under the title, “Evidence-Based Person-Centered Support from Pregnancy.” This initiative aims to share critical research insights and developments in various complex diseases such as neurological disorders, mental health issues, cancer, and infectious diseases with the general public. The seminar will be conducted in a hybrid format, allowing participants to join both in person and online via Zoom.
Workshop Details
The seminar will be held from 14:30 to 16:00 JST and is designed to present the latest findings pertaining to mother and child health, specifically highlighting the importance of mental well-being during pregnancy and postpartum periods. We are excited to welcome Associate Professor Kaori Baba from St. Luke's International University Graduate School of Nursing, who will deliver a presentation on enhancing maternal comfort and support through a person-centered care approach.
Presentation Overview
Professor Baba will address the troubling phenomenon known as “isolated parenting,” where many mothers hesitate to reach out for help, often perceived by supporters as doing fine. This misunderstanding often leads to unmet needs, which can exacerbate feelings of anxiety and helplessness. In response to the recommendations for preventing child abuse made by the Tokyo Child Welfare Council in 2020, we have developed the
