Alarmingly, it was found that nearly half of the accidents involving nursing beds and around 80% of those with powered wheelchairs were not due to product malfunctions. Rather, many of these incidents could have been prevented with simple precautions, such as checking the devices before use and monitoring the surroundings.

Furthermore, it's essential to recognize that devices not strictly classified as nursing aids can also pose risks to older adults. Changes in cognitive and physical capabilities that come with age can lead to unexpected accidents under certain conditions.
