Expanding Support for Families in the San Fernando Valley
In a significant move towards enhancing mental health resources, Parents Anonymous® Inc. is set to inaugurate its latest Well-Being Center in the San Fernando Valley this October. This center will serve as a beacon of hope, providing free mental health and parenting support services to families across Los Angeles County. The grand opening event is scheduled for October 9, 2025, at 5 p.m., taking place at 16600 Sherman Way, Suite 280, Van Nuys. Attendees can look forward to an evening filled with food, family-friendly activities, and opportunities to connect with community leaders and advocates.
This new center follows closely on the heels of a successful opening in Antelope Valley, underscoring Parents Anonymous®'s commitment to bridging the gaps in family mental health services throughout the LA metropolitan area. Dr. Lisa Pion-Berlin, President and CEO of Parents Anonymous®, expressed the necessity of such facilities, noting, "Families in the San Fernando Valley deserve access to meaningful support close to home."
What Services Will Be Offered?
The San Fernando Valley Well-Being Center will offer a comprehensive suite of services:
- - Weekly Support Groups: These groups for adults and children will follow evidence-based and trauma-informed practices, focusing on personal strengths and resilience.
- - Individual and Family Therapy: Tailored therapeutic sessions will cater to the unique needs of families and individuals seeking help.
- - Resource Navigation: Professionals will assist families in accessing additional supportive services through referrals and guidance.
- - 24/7 Helpline: The center will operate a Parent and Youth Helpline to offer immediate assistance in crises and ongoing support.
This initiative aims to provide preventive care rather than reactionary solutions, ensuring that families have pathways to wellness before reaching critical points of distress. By combining therapeutic groups, individualized therapy, and instant helpline support, the Well-Being Center intends to foster resilience, relieving stress and promoting positive changes in family dynamics.
Community and Government Support
The launch of the center has drawn commendations from various community leaders. Dr. Lisa H. Wong, Director of the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, stated her enthusiasm for the center’s opening, emphasizing that having additional mental health resources benefits the entire community, empowering residents to reach their fullest potential.
As the center prepares to welcome local families, the event will include local dignitaries and partner organizations celebrating the collective effort to improve mental health support in the area. Interested participants are required to RSVP to attend the grand opening.
