KOMEHYO's Exciting Kids Academy: A Creative Summer Experience
KOMEHYO, a renowned name in the jewelry resale market, is once again organizing the eagerly anticipated "KOMEHYO Kids Academy". Scheduled to run from August 1 to 28, this event aligns with the annual "Reuse Day" on August 8. After last year's success, which resulted in a waiting list due to overwhelming interest among families, KOMEHYO has expanded the initiative across four locations in Tokyo, Aichi, and Osaka.
A Journey into Sustainability
The primary audience for this event is elementary school children, aimed at imparting valuable lessons about the importance of reuse and the joy of creating unique projects. By engaging in activities that foster creativity, participants will learn to appreciate items through the lens of sustainability. From upcycling materials into jewelry to contemplating the various facets of recycling, the Kids Academy serves as an educational platform that instills fundamental values regarding the environment.
KOMEHYO’s philosophy revolves around the concept of "Relay Reuse" where items are passed from person to person, maximizing their use and sustaining their essential purpose. This principle is highlighted in the activities planned for the Kids Academy, providing children hands-on experience with reusable materials.
Engaging Activities for Young Minds
This year, KOMEHYO will present its first-ever collaboration with Brother Industries, introducing a premium version of the Kids Academy. This special program focuses on utilizing kimono remnants sourced from KOMEHYO’s transactions, and students will use Brother sewing machines to explore the wonders of upcycling.
Premium Academy Highlights
1.
Sustainable Sewing Workshop: Participants will learn about the history and evolving role of sewing in society. They’ll discover how to breathe new life into unused items, engage in creative reinterpretation, and develop an appreciation for sustainable living.
2.
Jewelry Appraisal Experience: Under the guidance of KOMEHYO’s certified appraisers, students will learn about evaluating the value of different materials, enhancing their understanding of jewelry.
