The activities planned for this special celebration are both diverse and engaging. Attendees can expect an impressive display of Marine aircraft and vehicles showcased at Boston Common, daily public workouts open to all, and captivating performances by the Quantico Marine Band and the renowned Silent Drill Platoon. Additionally, a ceremonial event will take place at the historic Fort Sewall, a location rich with military significance.
Colonel J.J. Wilson, who heads the Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force 250, expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, “For centuries, the Marine Corps has had a storied history in Boston. 1. Marblehead Ceremony (August 21, 4:30 PM)
Kick off the celebrations at Fort Sewall in Marblehead, with a ceremony featuring the Silent Drill Platoon, the Color Guard, and a thrilling Marine flyover. The event will include remarks from Colonel Wilson and other dignitaries.
2. Morning PT with Marines (August 21-24, 7-8 AM)
Everyone is invited to join the Marines for 'Morning Physical Training' at Boston Common Baseball Field. This fitness session is designed for all age groups and will focus on strength, endurance, and coordination.
3. Static Displays (August 21-24, 9 AM - 7 PM)
Interact with a variety of Marine Corps vehicles and equipment at Boston Common. Activities include trying on parachutes, climbing aboard aircraft, and participating in a pull-up challenge, along with performances from the Quantico Marine Band.
4. Daily Wreath-Laying Ceremonies (August 21-24, 9 AM)
Pay your respects at the Boston Common Soldiers and Sailors Monument during daily wreath-laying ceremonies to honor those who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
5. Colors Ceremonies (August 22-24, 8 AM & 8 PM)
Attend the daily colors ceremonies at Boston City Hall, held both mornings and evenings.
6. Entertainment at Faneuil Hall (August 22, 5-7 PM)
