Hino Trucks Unveils Le Series Electric Medium-Duty Truck at ACT Expo 2026
Hino Trucks Unveils the New Le Series Battery Electric Truck
Hino Trucks made a significant mark at the 2026 ACT Expo by unveiling its latest innovation: the Le Series battery electric vehicle (BEV). This new addition symbolizes Hino's unwavering dedication to reducing its environmental footprint while providing robust solutions tailored to meet the needs of modern fleets. The Le Series offers two models with gross vehicle weight ratings (GVWR) of 25,950 lbs. and 33,000 lbs., catering to diverse commercial applications.
Rodney Shaffer, Vice President of National Accounts for Zero Emission Vehicles at Hino, expressed, "Introducing the Le Series is an important step in our efforts to reduce environmental impact and support our customers' sustainability goals." This commitment resonates through the design and technology embedded in the Le Series, ensuring that fleets can not only operate efficiently but also contribute positively to environmental conservation.
Advanced Energy Solutions
The core of the Le Series is powered by the advanced Hexagon Purus ProPack™ Battery System, utilizing Panasonic Energy lithium-ion cells with a total output of 269 kWh, capable of handling voltages up to 750 volts. The truck is equipped with DC fast-charging capabilities (CCS Type 1 / 120 kW), allowing for an impressive recharge time of approximately 1.8 hours to achieve a state of charge from 0% to 80%.
Efficiency is further enhanced by the Accelera Integrated e-Axle 14Xe Gen 4.5, which delivers exceptional performance metrics—260 kW peak power and a continuous output of 180 kW. This setup, alongside a two-speed automatic transmission, allows the truck to meet the demands of high-performance operation in commercial settings.
Enhancing Fleet Performance
The Le Series is not just about electric power; it integrates sophisticated systems designed to optimize energy efficiency and extend operational range. Features such as programmable regenerative braking and improved weight distribution enhance vehicle dynamics, ensuring that drivers experience smooth acceleration and responsive handling. Additionally, the quiet operation of electric engines reduces driver fatigue, thereby improving comfort during long hours on the road.
For body builders looking to customize the vehicle, the clearly designed back-of-cab area simplifies the upfitting process, making it easier to adapt the trucks for various applications. Safety also plays a critical role, with standard features including an automatic emergency braking system and a lane departure warning system to further protect drivers and assets.
Production and Future Outlook
Hino Trucks is set to begin production of the Le Series in Q3 of 2026. This aligns perfectly with the company's objective of delivering practical electric solutions that align with evolving environmental standards and customer expectations. Hino's broader efforts emphasize not only innovation in technology but also a steadfast commitment to meeting the increasing demand for sustainable transportation solutions.
