Amcor's Earth Sense® Pro Bags Silver Award for Sustainable Stretch Film Innovation

Amcor's Groundbreaking Achievement in Sustainable Packaging

In a remarkable recognition of its commitment to sustainability, Amcor has recently received the prestigious Silver Flexible Packaging Achievement Award for its innovative product, the Earth Sense® Pro Recycled Content Stretch Hand Film. The award was presented at the Flexible Packaging Association's (FPA) 2026 Annual Meeting held in Orlando, Florida, underscoring Amcor's leadership in evolving responsible packaging solutions.

Amcor has long been a key player in the flexible packaging industry, and this award emphasizes its dedication to reducing environmental impact through innovative products. Phil Stolz, President of Amcor Flexibles Converter Distribution, expressed pride in being acknowledged by the FPA for innovations that aid customers in minimizing their ecological footprint. He stated that this recognition reflects the ongoing efforts of Amcor to deliver more sustainable packaging options across its entire portfolio.

Features of Earth Sense® Pro

The Earth Sense® Pro is designed specifically for wrapping pallets manually, focusing on both performance and sustainability. This stretch hand film integrates 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) material and 5% post-industrial recycled (PIR) content while maintaining the capacity for stable, secure loads throughout transportation and storage. The film's high load containment ability is crucial in reducing waste and damage during shipment, which helps alleviate pressure on landfills and ocean pollution, aligning with Amcor's vision of a circular economy.

What sets this product apart is its exceptional downgaugeable structure that ensures toughness while allowing for significant lightweighting. The 28-gauge film provides comparable, if not superior, performance to thicker films, ensuring that the wrap integrity is maintained while using less material. Not only does this enhance operator comfort during application, but it also substantially reduces film waste—an important step in promoting sustainability.

For years, achieving a high level of PCR integration in stretch film has been a technical challenge; Amcor's success in producing a 28-gauge film with 30% PCR content marks a significant breakthrough. This achievement expands the possibilities for recycling in applications that have typically demanded thicker films.

The Journey of Innovation

The FPA Achievement Awards have been a benchmark for innovation and technical excellence in the flexible packaging industry for the past 70 years. This particular year, the competition saw 360 submissions, among which 36 innovative solutions were honored for enhancing performance, functionality, and sustainability in packaging. Amcor's recognition within this esteemed group exemplifies its ongoing journey of seeking innovative solutions to packaging challenges worldwide.

With a track record of developing responsible consumer packaging solutions, Amcor now operates across over 400 locations in more than 40 countries, employing over 75,000 people and generating approximately $23 billion in annual revenue. Their commitment to sustainability isn’t just a corporate objective; it is part of their mission to elevate customers, shape lives, and protect the future.

As the world increasingly prioritizes sustainability, Amcor stands out as a leader, demonstrating that innovation and environmental stewardship can indeed go hand-in-hand. The Earth Sense® Pro is not only a testament to their capabilities in the flexible packaging segment but also a significant step toward a more sustainable future for the entire industry.
