Lounge LE CIEL Set to Open in Kashihara for City's 70th Anniversary

The Grand Mercure Nara Kashihara is welcoming a significant addition to its offerings: the new Lounge LE CIEL, opening on April 1, 2026. This debut coincides with the city’s 70th anniversary, celebrated on February 11, 2026. The lounge represents an initiative aimed at fostering community ties while promoting Kashihara's unique charm and culture.

Designed as an embodiment of warmth and cleanliness, Lounge LE CIEL embraces the comfort of wood and features a bright, inviting atmosphere. The interior design and layout have been crafted by MUJI at Aeon Mall Kashihara, who focused on flexibility and comfort, resulting in a spacious setting that accommodates up to 146 guests. Simple, minimalistic furniture predominantly from MUJI allows for a cozy environment suitable for business meetings, solo travelers, and families alike.

At the heart of the lounge, a table made from reclaimed antique furniture serves as a centerpiece, highlighting the concept of connection to history. This initiative resonates with MUJI's philosophy of breathing new life into old furniture through repair and restoration. Guests can engage with the local culture through a curated bookshelf featuring books on the history and culture of the Kashihara and Asuka areas, encouraging a natural interest in the surrounding heritage during their stay.

For families traveling with children, a dedicated kids' space has been created at the far end of the lounge. This area features artificial turf and wooden logs for safe play, along with children's desks and chairs for reading or quiet activities. The design promotes a shared experience among generations, allowing grandparents, parents, and children to enjoy their time together.

The name 'Lounge LE CIEL' translates to 'The Sky' in French, a nod to Kashihara's picturesque landscape set against the backdrop of mountains and historic sites, such as the ancient burial mounds of Yamato. The name aims to reflect the openness and harmonious natural surroundings of the area, symbolizing a bright future. The lounge is intended to serve as a hub for local discovery programs, connecting guests to cultural experiences that bridge the past, present, and future.

To mark the 2nd anniversary of the Grand Mercure Nara Kashihara, which falls on the same day as the lounge's opening, a special promotion will offer half-price stays for elementary school children and free stays for younger children. Reservations for this offer will begin on March 2, 2026, available through popular travel platforms like Jalan.net, Rakuten Travel, Ikyu.com, and Rurubu Travel.

The all-inclusive package at the hotel encompasses not only accommodations but also dinner and breakfast at the buffet restaurant, lounge drinks—including alcoholic options—and access to onsite hot springs and activities. While some additional drinks and activities may incur fees, the package ensures that guests immerse themselves in the natural and cultural allure of the region during their stay.

Conveniently located just a minute's walk from Kintetsu Kashihara Jingu-mae Station, the hotel is ideally situated for exploring the historical and cultural richness of the Kashihara and Asuka areas, renowned for their ancient burial mounds, shrines, and the cherry blossoms of Yoshino. Guests can indulge in an all-inclusive experience featuring local culinary delights, making the most of their visit to this culturally rich region.
