On June 22, 2025, the renowned author Kusaka Minako and esteemed sculptor Hashimoto Mio will grace the stage for a captivating talk event titled "Living with My Creative Partner". This event will take place at the Bookhouse Cafe in Jimbocho, Tokyo, and promises a blend of inspiring stories and artistic discourse.

As part of the celebration for the upcoming exhibition of the picture book “Kimi ga iru kara”, slated for June 11 to 24, 2025, attendees will be treated to a special gift - a piece of wood from Hashimoto’s workshop. This unique memento embodies the essence of creative craftsmanship and will be given to those who purchase tickets for the onsite viewing.

During the event, Kusaka and Hashimoto will delve into their unique collaborations with their respective creative partners, share anecdotes about their creative processes, and discuss how animals have influenced their artistic endeavors. About the Book


“Kimi ga iru kara” is a tender picture book that encapsulates the bond between a cat and its owner, reflecting on how an animal can uplift one’s spirit during tough times. Written and illustrated by Kusaka Minako and Hashimoto Mio respectively, this A4-sized book stretches across 38 pages and is priced at 1,650 JPY.

  • - Kusaka Minako: An author who both writes and illustrates. Currently living in the suburbs of Tokyo with her rescue cats, she is a prominent member of the Children’s Literature Association and has several beloved titles to her name.
  • - Hashimoto Mio: A sculptor who creates lifelike wooden representations of animals. Based in Mie Prefecture, she aims to capture the essence of living creatures through her carvings, using camphor wood as her medium.
