Movement Network Foundation Announces Developer Phase for Public Mainnet, Paving Way for DeFi Growth

Movement Network Foundation Launches Developer Phase for Public Mainnet

The Movement Network Foundation, an organization dedicated to propelling innovation and the use of MoveVM technology, has initiated the Developer Phase of its Public Mainnet on January 28, 2025. This new development comes as an extension of the momentum established during the initial mainnet release in December 2024, setting the stage for the official Public Mainnet Beta scheduled to launch in mid-February.

In conjunction with the launch, the Movement Network Foundation introduced 'Cornucopia,' an extensive liquidity program designed to foster ecosystem growth by supporting decentralized finance (DeFi) applications right from the start. This multi-asset liquidity campaign aims to enhance market efficiency and promote the adoption of the protocol from day one, providing much-needed liquidity and resources for developers.

The Cornucopia program has been developed in collaboration with industry partners such as Concrete, Veda Labs, Echelon, and Canopy. It includes various specialized vaults: a BTC vault featuring Lombard, Lorenzo BTC, and SolvBTC; an ETH vault featuring EtherFi and Renzo (ezETH); and a $MOVE vault that incorporates Movement's liquid staking protocols like Thunderhead, Movernance, and Meridian. Notably, a $100 million Ethena stable vault will serve as a cornerstone, illustrating a strong commitment from institutions toward the Movement ecosystem.

The initial beta launch of Movement Network’s mainnet provided limited capabilities including permissioned smart contracts and the issuance of commemorative NFTs. It also allowed the first foundational components, such as follower nodes and indexers, to be deployed. With the activation of the Developer Mainnet, ecosystem partners now have the opportunity to deploy their protocols and applications using Movement’s network.

From now until mid-February, development teams are systematically working to implement core infrastructure and test integrations to ensure a stable deployment environment for the upcoming Public Mainnet Beta. Key milestones in this timeline include:

  • - Developer Mainnet (January 28): Deployment of core infrastructure begins, marking the opening of the implementation window for selected partners and DeFi protocols, along with the release of technical documentation and developer resources.
  • - Public Mainnet Beta (mid-February): Comprehensive network functionality will go live, including support for bridges via LayerZero integration and permissionless decentralized applications (DApp) deployment.

Cooper Scanlon, Co-Founder of Movement Labs, remarked, "The deployment of Movement Developer Mainnet and Cornucopia heralds a new era for blockchain development. Our approach strategically combines technical infrastructure with immediate DeFi liquidity, creating a vibrant ecosystem where developers can utilize Move's robust security while tapping into Ethereum's vast scalability. This coordinated strategy promises to deliver instant value for both developers and users."
