Establishment of the Europe-Africa Electric Logistics Corridor

In an innovative endeavor to revolutionize logistics and transport, Gotion, Green Power Morocco (GPM), and Chery Heavy Trucks have signed a pivotal agreement. This partnership marks the beginning of a new electric logistics corridor that connects Morocco and France, focusing on heavy-duty electric transportation to facilitate cross-border trade with lower emissions.

The corridor spans approximately 2,000 kilometers, beginning in Agadir, southern Morocco, passing through the port of Tangier, and culminating in Perpignan, southern France. Currently, around 2,000 heavy-duty trucks traverse this important route daily. The introduction of electric trucks and necessary infrastructure is intended to substantially reduce emission intensity along this vital trade artery.

A Scalable Partnership Model

Gotion and GPM will embark on a joint venture aimed at managing fleets of electric vehicles, establishing battery swap stations, and integrating smart dispatch and energy storage solutions. The initial deployment will encompass 100 heavy-duty electric trucks equipped with Gotion's battery systems, with expansion reliant on infrastructure readiness and overall performance metrics. Gotion is contributing its extensive experience in utility vehicle design and manufacturing to this collaborative effort.

Innovations in Charging and Battery Exchange

A key element of this project involves developing battery exchange solutions that aim to minimize downtime and enhance the operational efficiency of electric trucks. Standardization of batteries and effective management of their life cycles are also being addressed to further streamline operations and sustainability goals.

Lower-Emission Trade Corridors
