AlphaESS Maintains Tier 1 Status
AlphaESS has achieved a significant milestone by being recognized as a Tier 1 manufacturer of energy storage systems for the fifth consecutive quarter, as reported by BloombergNEF (BNEF) for Q4 of 2026. This consistent acknowledgment underscores AlphaESS's strong track record in energy storage projects and its bolstered presence in the global utility market.
During this quarter's ranking, BNEF applied stricter bankability criteria, requiring energy storage system providers to demonstrate project experience underpinned by non-recourse financing from at least two commercial banks in qualifying projects. AlphaESS’s continued inclusion on this list provides developers, investors, and EPC partners with additional confidence when assessing potential energy storage system suppliers.
Expanding Large-Scale Projects in Europe
AlphaESS is making notable strides in large-scale energy storage projects across Europe, with recent developments in Lithuania, Austria, and Germany, amassing a total capacity of 200 MWh. In Lithuania, a 120 MWh battery storage project leveraging AlphaESS's Aster 5000 system has successfully passed factory acceptance testing (FAT) and is slated for shipment.
In Austria, AlphaESS provided the battery system on the DC side for a 30 MW / 60 MWh project in Hörsching. This project integrates solar generation, battery storage, and electric truck charging, also supplying grid services and backup power. Its 40 MWh segment dedicated to grid services became operational in September 2026.
In Germany, AlphaESS is delivering a battery system on the DC side for a 20 MWh project in Bavaria, aimed at grid balancing and energy arbitrage, with commissioning anticipated in 2027.
Powered by Aster 5000 Technology
Integral to AlphaESS’s offering for large-scale projects, the Aster 5000 system consists of a battery storage solution featuring liquid cooling, housed within a 20-foot container and boasting an approximate capacity of 5 MWh per unit. With intelligent thermal management, an advanced battery management system, and multi-layer safety protection, it is designed for flexible deployment in large-scale applications, such as grid stabilization and renewable energy integration.
Together, these projects and technologies highlight AlphaESS's expanding capabilities in delivering scalable energy storage solutions tailored to the diverse needs of the market.
