Time Travel Exhibition: A Journey Through Alcohol History
The "Time Travel Exhibition ~A Journey Through The Ages Starting With A Drink~" is a unique experiential event conceptualized by students from Atomi Gakuen Women's University. This exhibition, running from May 13 to May 31 at SUMADORI Meets in Shibuya, Tokyo, aims to cater to the curiosity of Generation Z who are eager to explore their own unique ways of enjoying alcoholic beverages.
Organized in collaboration with Associate Professor Tetsuya Nakaniwa's seminar, the exhibition is part of the Shibuya Smart Drinking Project by Smart Dori Co., Ltd. This initiative emphasizes a socially responsible drinking culture that respects diversity in drinking habits and addresses societal issues within the Shibuya district. With approximately 70% of young participants revealing they have never felt a historical connection to alcohol, and around 90% expressing a desire to discover their own ideal drinking style, this event offers a platform for exploration and learning.
The exhibition takes attendees on a historical journey from ancient to modern times, showcasing how humanity has adapted its relationship with alcohol throughout the ages. Visitors will experience different eras such as ancient times, the Middle Ages, the Age of Exploration, and the Edo period, where unique drinking customs and cocktail innovations emerged in response to changing societal contexts.
