Moldova Digital Summit 2026: A Glimpse into the Future of Digital Excellence

On June 5th and 6th, 2026, Chișinău hosted the highly anticipated Moldova Digital Summit 2026 (MDS26). Bringing together around 4000 participants, more than 100 speakers, and 45 exhibitors, the summit focused on technology, investments, and Moldova's integration into Europe's digital economy. The event featured over 70 sessions highlighting Moldova's strides toward becoming a beacon of digital success.

Among the notable attendees was EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, who praised Moldova as a digital success story. "Moldova is already a digital success story. You are leading in digital services, and this is where Moldovan professionals have successfully made their mark at a European level. This not only creates prosperity in Moldova but also allows young people to build careers while staying connected to their roots," Kos stated, underscoring the nation's commitment to technological advancement.

Moldova's ICT sector has emerged as a remarkable economic success, comprising nearly 3000 companies that employ over 26,000 professionals. These businesses serve clients globally, with the majority of their revenue coming from exports. In 2025 alone, firms located in the Moldova Innovation Technology Park (MITP) achieved a combined revenue of over $1 billion. This thriving sector, supported by a competitive workforce and robust digital infrastructure, lays the foundation for Moldova's role as an innovation hub in an extended European Union.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu emphasized that for Moldova, digitization is a choice that enhances competitiveness, transparency, and resilience. He pointed out, "We rely on talent rather than size to remain competitive. Every individual and young professional possesses unique talents, and we must find ways to nurture these talents. Our goal is not just to join the European Union but also to contribute to building Europe's digital future."

Crucially, Moldova leads the region in offering digital public services, backed by advanced interoperability infrastructure. Currently, 78% of public services for businesses are available online, significantly reducing administrative burdens and enhancing accessibility to governmental services. In 2025, digital public services saved citizens and businesses approximately €44 million and over 9.3 million hours of time. The nation's digital infrastructure efficiently manages around 3.2 million data exchanges daily.

During the summit, the next-generation integrated governmental app, EVO 2.0, was introduced. This digital wallet for identity verification fully complies with the European digital identity framework, allowing citizens secure access to verified documents and personal data directly through their smartphones.

Moreover, MDS26 showcased Moldova's evolution from digital prowess to physical innovation capacity. Initial memorandums of understanding for the Moldova HiTech Park were disclosed, aiming for a 50-hectare innovation campus near Chișinău, which is anticipated to attract more than €200 million in investments. This facility will support a state-run data center, a nanotechnology cluster, and innovations in the HealthTech sector.

The Moldova Digital Summit 2026 was organized under the auspices of the government, with contributions from various entities including the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the Moldovan Association of ICT Companies, the Electronic Governance Agency, and Tekwill. As Moldova strides forward, the insights and advancements shared at MDS26 will undoubtedly shape the future of its digital landscape, further integrating the nation into the fabric of Europe's digital economy.
