Orbia Netafim Advances Agricultural Solutions with New Facility in Mexico

Orbia Netafim Expands Its Reach in the Americas with New Mexico Plant

Orbia Advance Corporation, through its Precision Agriculture subsidiary Netafim, has officially inaugurated a new manufacturing facility located in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. This strategic addition not only strengthens Orbia Netafim's production capacity but also enhances service delivery throughout North and Central America, allowing the company to better meet the growing demand for precision irrigation solutions.

The new facility spans 30,000 square meters and is designed to support the rising needs of the agricultural sector, particularly focusing on precision irrigation technology. The plant is equipped with state-of-the-art automation technology, ensuring consistent quality, efficiency, and responsible manufacturing practices. Initially, the facility will specialize in the production of thin-wall drip irrigation systems, with plans to introduce heavy-wall dripline production in the near future.

By situating this manufacturing site in Hermosillo, Orbia aims to reduce lead times and enable closer collaboration with farmers and agricultural partners. This localized production approach is intended to enhance the operational efficiency and service responsiveness essential for today's farming practices.

The opening of the Hermosillo plant marks a significant milestone for Orbia as it is the company’s third manufacturing site in Mexico and the 21st globally. It joins the existing network of facilities, including sites in Reynosa, Mexico, and Fresno, California, along with recycling plants in Culiacán and California. This well-distributed manufacturing network allows for a more balanced regional approach, better serving the needs of the agricultural community in these areas.

Orbia's CEO, Sameer Bharadwaj, expressed the necessity of this expansion, stating that there’s a strong ongoing demand for precision irrigation solutions across the Americas. Farmers face numerous challenges, including water scarcity, rising costs, and the pressing need to improve overall productivity. The new Hermosillo facility will not only augment regional supply but also facilitate a closer connection to customers, ultimately improving service in the regions where agricultural technology adoption is rapidly increasing.

Hermosillo is particularly strategic due to its proximity to key farming areas and robust logistics infrastructure, including rail access. This region, known for its production of commodity crops and fresh produce, is also one of Mexico's most water-stressed agricultural areas, making the introduction of advanced irrigation solutions critical to modernizing agricultural practices in the country.

Gaby Miodownik, the President of Orbia Precision Agriculture, highlighted the importance of this development by stating, "Working closely with farmers helps us understand their daily challenges and needs. The Hermosillo facility reinforces our commitment to helping growers navigate tough conditions and grow confidently."

The establishment of the Hermosillo plant is expected to create approximately 200 direct job opportunities, alongside supporting local suppliers and service providers and increasing indirect employment in the region. This commitment to local employment aligns with Orbia’s dedication to not just improve agricultural outcomes but also contribute positively to local economies.

In summary, Orbia Advance Corporation's new manufacturing plant in Hermosillo marks a significant investment in the future of precision agriculture, reflecting a strong dedication to agricultural modernization in a critical region. The facility promises not only to enhance service delivery and production efficiency for precision irrigation systems but also to create meaningful local employment and partnerships with farmers. Through this facility, Orbia Netafim continues to lead by example, demonstrating its commitment to sustainable agricultural practices and the long-term resilience of farming communities.
