Diego Luna Honored with the 2025 Audi Goals Drive Progress Impact Award

On November 19, 2025, Major League Soccer (MLS) and Audi of America proudly announced that Diego Luna, a standout player for Real Salt Lake (RSL), will receive the prestigious 2025 Audi Goals Drive Progress Impact Award. This honor is designed to recognize MLS players who are deeply committed to bringing about positive change in their communities across the United States and Canada.

As a star on the field, Luna has excelled in his performances for Real Salt Lake, but his impact extends far beyond the pitch. He actively engages with local schools, youth soccer clubs, and after-school programs in the Salt Lake region, advocating for mental health awareness and promoting the importance of seeking professional help through therapy. His endeavors reveal a player who is dedicated not just to his sport but also to the development and well-being of the youth in his community.

To honor Diego Luna’s significant contributions, Audi will be making a $150,000 donation to Intermountain Health's Primary Children's Hospital, supporting the Primary Promise program, an initiative dedicated to enhancing the lives and health of children. The award ceremony will occur during the MLS Cup, presented by Audi, on December 6, 2025.

In a heartfelt statement, Luna expressed his gratitude for receiving the award: "Being a voice and champion for positive change is and will continue to be a big part of my life. My time in Utah has provided my family and me with incredible opportunities, and we want to do everything we can to give back to the community that has embraced us."

Luna's dedication to community service has not gone unnoticed, as he was recently recognized as Utah's Male Professional Athlete of the Year after winning honors from the Governor's Office and the Utah Sports Commission. His efforts to promote mental health awareness exemplify a desire to uplift others, especially the youth, in a region where such support is vital.

His sports accolades further amplify his presence in the MLS; having been selected as an MLS All-Star in both 2024 and 2025, he became the first player from Real Salt Lake in nearly ten years to achieve back-to-back All-Star honors. Luna also received the title of the 2024 MLS Young Player of the Year, making him the youngest player in league history to earn this distinction. In addition, he led the team as the Golden Boot winner in 2025 while helping RSL secure a playoff spot for five consecutive seasons—a testament to his skill and impact in the league.

Luna's contributions are equally recognized at the national level as he plays a critical role in the U.S. Men's National Team. His notable performances during the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup earned him a place in the tournament's Best XI, further establishing him as a key figure in American soccer.

The finalists for the Audi Goals Drive Progress Impact Award included both Brad Stuver from Austin FC and Ryan Hollingshead from LAFC. Selection was made by a committee consisting of current MLS players, technical staff, media members, and front office representatives, demonstrating the high standards of excellence recognized in the league.
