Hyundai Motor Group Highlights Revolutionary Hydrogen Innovations at World Hydrogen Expo 2025 in Korea

Hyundai Motor Group's Hydrogen Innovations at the World Hydrogen Expo 2025

Hyundai Motor Group is taking center stage at the World Hydrogen Expo 2025 in Seoul, Korea, revealing groundbreaking innovations in hydrogen technology that underline its status as a leader in this vital sector. This major event has attracted more than 250 companies from over 25 countries, all showcasing their latest advancements in hydrogen production, storage, mobility, and industrial applications. The theme of this year’s expo, "Hydrogen Pioneers Innovate, Unite, Accelerate," encapsulates the collaborative spirit necessary for advancing hydrogen as a clean energy source.

The event marks the first merging of the annual H2MEET exhibition with a conference format, supported by four South Korean government ministries, and is expected to welcome around 40,000 attendees, ranging from industry professionals to the general public. This convergence emphasizes Korea’s ambition to solidify its status as a global hydrogen hub, and Hyundai Motor Group plays a pivotal role in this transformation toward a sustainable energy landscape.

“Given the rising power demands propelled by the adoption of AI technologies, transitioning to renewable energy sources becomes crucial,” stated Jaehoon Chang, Vice Chair of Hyundai Motor Group. "Hydrogen not only allows for the effective storage and utilization of renewable energy but also helps to mitigate the effects of energy intermittency, thus enhancing overall system efficiency. By converting surplus electricity into hydrogen, we can alleviate pressure on power grids and make energy systems more adaptable and resilient. Hydrogen is truly a transformative force in the future of energy,” he added.

Showcasing the Hydrogen Value Chain

Hyundai Motor Group, through its affiliates—including Hyundai Motor Company, Kia Corporation, and Hyundai Steel Company—has established a dedicated hydrogen brand named HTWO, under which it presents various pioneering technologies at the expo. These innovations span the entire hydrogen value chain and are categorized into four main areas: Production, Storage & Refueling, Mobility, and Industrial Application. Each category showcases Hyundai’s commitment to nurturing sustainable energy advancements and expanding hydrogen’s reach across diverse industries.
