SHIFT80 and The Mouse Kid: A Unique Artistic Collaboration
SHIFT80, an ethical creative collective, has announced an intriguing exhibition titled 'Where Does Your Value Come From?' in collaboration with the artist The Mouse Kid. This exhibition will take place from June 17 to June 21, 2026, at EARTH+GALLERY in Kiba, Tokyo.
Examining Value Through Art
The Mouse Kid is renowned for addressing capitalism as a central theme in his art. By presenting works that critique the conditions under which value is circulated and trusted, he invites viewers to rethink their fundamental beliefs about value. In contrast, SHIFT80 draws from its profound experiences in Kibera, a large slum in Nairobi, Kenya, where the collective seeks to portray narratives that challenge traditional views of value from a life lived in the margins.
The collaboration between these two entities aims to probe at the core questions of 'What is value?' and 'What fundamental beliefs shape your perception of value?' through diverse artistic lenses.
The Exhibition Details
This is not the first endeavor from SHIFT80, which has previously held exhibitions addressing critical social issues in innovative ways, such as 'Is the World One?' and 'I’m Still Alive—Despite the Odds.' The upcoming exhibition at EARTH+GALLERY will include a pop-up store, providing a chance for visitors to engage more deeply with the work produced by SHIFT80 and The Mouse Kid.
The art created from the collaboration is expected to be a powerful dialogue between experiences in Kibera and the question of capitalist values as explored by The Mouse Kid. The futuristic concept of value will be explored through their combined approaches, encouraging visitors to reflect on their own definitions of worth.
