Introducing the SFK 75A Series Self-Control Protectors by Dexerials: A Leap in Battery Technology

Introduction

Dexerials Corporation, based in Shimotsuke City, Tochigi Prefecture, has announced the launch of its newest product, the SFK 75A series self-control protectors (SCPs). Capable of handling a maximum rated current of 75A and designed for a rated voltage of 62VDC, this product marks a significant advancement in surface-mounted fuses, catering to the growing demands of the electronics industry.

Understanding Self-Control Protectors

Self-control protectors serve as crucial safety components in lithium-ion battery systems. They are tasked with controlling the charge and discharge cycles of batteries. In scenarios where the primary protection fails, leading to overcharging or overcurrent, SCPs activate secondary protection by disconnecting the circuit through the melting of the fuse element. Since their introduction in 1994, SCPs have found wide-ranging applications in devices like laptops and smartphones. With the expansion of lithium-ion battery uses, they are now also prevalent in electric tools and vehicles, alongside their growing importance in data centers, especially for AI server battery backup units (BBUs).

The SFK 75A Series Features

The development of the SFK 75A series came in response to the industry's need for high-current SCPs, as client requests for enhanced product performance have surged. By optimizing its proprietary low-resistance fuse element technology, Dexerials has maintained the same size as the previous 60A SCP while offering a higher capacity and power output, suitable for a diverse range of applications requiring substantial current. The compact dimensions of 9.5mm in width, 5.0mm in height, and 2.0mm in thickness contribute to more efficient use of space inside final products.

Specifications Overview

The new series includes several models tailored to specific configurations:
  • - SFK-1275: Supports 3-cell battery packs; rated current of 75A, operating voltage range of 10.5 to 13.5V.
  • - SFK-2075: Suitable for 5-cell packs; same current and voltage specifications as above.
  • - SFK-5075: Designed for 12 to 14-cell configurations, with operational range up to 62VDC.
All models maintain a maximum interruption current of 200A and a fuse resistance of 0.7mΩ. The robustness and small size make them ideal for high-demand applications such as electric bikes and power tools.

Upcoming Exhibition

The SFK 75A series will make its debut at the largest battery technology exhibition in Europe, The Battery Show Europe, scheduled from June 3 to June 5, 2025, in Stuttgart, Germany. This event gathers leaders in advanced battery technology and hybrid electric vehicle innovations, illustrating the comprehensive supply chain of battery energy storage.
