Empowering Ethiopia Through Light Down Campaign
The Pal System Cooperative Association, headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo, is set to launch a significant initiative starting December 1, 2025, known as the Light Down Campaign. This campaign invites individuals to participate in actions to reduce household lighting and contribute to enhancing the lives of those in Ethiopia's electrification-deficient areas.
Campaign Objectives
Running from December 1, 2025, to January 11, 2026, this campaign aims not only to raise awareness about the importance of energy conservation but also to highlight the essential nature of environmental consideration through simple, everyday actions. By turning off unnecessary lights or dimming existing lighting, participants can directly contribute to this noble cause.
Each action, such as clicking the designated buttons on the campaign's special website or sharing photos and comments, translates into financial contributions toward solar lanterns for Ethiopia. For every click, 10 yen will be donated, while each post will contribute 100 yen. This initiative allows anyone in the community to engage meaningfully, demonstrating that small actions can indeed lead to significant changes.
How It Works
The campaign's special site serves as a hub for participants. They can express their commitment to energy-saving behaviors by clicking a button or sharing their experiences online. The funds raised through these engagements will be funneled through ADRA Japan, an accredited NPO based in Shibuya, ensuring that contributions reach the electrification-deficient regions where they are most needed.
By participating, individuals not only decrease their energy usage at home but also help illuminate lives in areas where such luxuries are not a given. Every click and every post contributes to lighting up communities in Ethiopia.
A Stronger Commitment to Sustainability
The Light Down Campaign is part of the broader strategy adopted by the Pal System Group in 2023, which emphasizes the creation of a resource-circulating society. Central to this vision is the advocacy for renewable energy development, moving away from reliance on nuclear and fossil fuels. The trio of actions to
