A-TOM ART AWARD 2026: Unleashing Creative Talents of Student Artists



The A-TOM ART AWARD 2026, initiated by ATOM Co., Ltd. of Japan, is making its ninth call for entries, inviting young talents from across the nation. This year’s theme is "Choosing and Creating," focused on nurturing emerging artists and invigorating regional culture through art.

About the A-TOM ART AWARD 2026


The award seeks submissions from student artists engaged in contemporary art. Participants will undergo a two-stage evaluation process: an initial review based on submitted artwork data and a final judgment that includes presentations by the shortlisted candidates. Five winners will be announced, and their group exhibition will be held in October 2026, showcasing their works.

Each award winner will receive a cash prize of 200,000 yen. Additionally, two of the winners will be given a special opportunity to participate in an art program in rural areas of Japan, offering further support for their artistic endeavors.

The jury consists of notable figures in the field:
  • - Junji Ito: An art critic and project planner with extensive experience across various artistic domains.
  • - Shigeru Kakuya: The representative of Gohari Ippun, specializing in architecture and design.
  • - Nanana Kanmuri: An art mediator and cultural producer, engaged in numerous projects at Musashino Art University and beyond.
  • - Kento Tanhara: A writer and curator with a focus on creating new narratives in contemporary art.
  • - Yuka Numata & Akira Fujimoto: These talented artists engage with innovative themes in their works, representing the dynamic nature of contemporary art.

How to Apply


Artists who wish to participate must meet the following criteria:
1. Be a student currently enrolled in an institution that issues international student IDs.
2. Submit only one artwork per individual or group, ensuring it is original and unpublished.
3. Be available for presentations and exhibitions as scheduled.
4. Present in Japanese at the finals, regardless of residency.
