National Center for Dairy Technology Showcases Innovation at IDF World Dairy Summit 2025

The highly anticipated IDF World Dairy Summit 2025 took place from October 20 to 23 in Santiago, Chile, bringing together dairy industry leaders and innovators from across the globe. At this summit, the National Center of Technology Innovation for Dairy (NCTID), led by the Yili Group, made its debut, presenting innovative strategies to enhance sustainability in the dairy sector.

Liu Chunxi, the Chairman of NCTID and President of the Yili Group, participated in a crucial session of the IDF Taskforce on the Paris Declaration for Dairy Sustainability. This gathering featured a diverse group of dairy industry leaders, experts, and scientists, all committed to discussing the future of sustainable dairy production.

The achievements of NCTID in sustainable innovation were recognized with several prestigious awards at the IDF Dairy Innovation Awards. Often referred to as the "Oscars of the dairy sector" due to their global significance and professional rigor, these awards highlight impactful advancements within the dairy industry.

Among the award-winning innovations, AMBPOMIAL's limited edition eco-packaging, titled "For a Bluer Ocean," received accolades for its "Innovation in Packaging and Transparency for Dairy Products." This product features a unique environmentally friendly label developed through NCTID's alkalinely washable ink technology, significantly improving the recycling process by allowing labels to detach smoothly during recycling, which in turn increases the purity and recycling rate of materials.

Additionally, Yili's milk powder, the "Xinhuo Bone Energy Formula," was awarded for its innovation in dairy nutrition for humans. This formula draws on traditional Eastern dietary principles, integrating proteins, colostrum-based protein (CBP), calcium, vitamins, sodium hyaluronate, and herbal extracts. It aims to promote the health of bones, joints, and muscles effectively.

During the summit, Dr. Ignatius Szeto, Executive Director of the Nutrition and Health Research Center at NCTID and Vice President of the Yili Group, delivered a keynote speech entitled "The Role of Dairy Consumption in Healthy Aging." He outlined five critical health dimensions and discussed the diverse benefits dairy products offer for healthy aging. Dr. Szeto also shared the latest research findings from NCTID, providing valuable insights and practical strategies to address global aging challenges. Notably, he emphasized that dairy products are rich sources of high-quality protein and essential vitamins and minerals, playing an integral role in improving nutritional health and reducing the prevalence of non-communicable diseases and other age-related health conditions.

The establishment of NCTID under the auspices of the Yili Group marks a significant step forward in advancing dairy technology innovation. Yili has played a crucial role in mission-driven development, ensuring that the center's state-of-the-art technologies are effectively implemented, fostering progress throughout the industry.

During the summit, NCTID also introduced cutting-edge innovations, including a digital traceability system designed for microbial risk management in dairy products and a research initiative highlighting the protective role of fermented dairy products against alcohol-related liver stress. These initiatives reflect NCTID's robust capabilities in pioneering dairy technology.

Looking ahead, NCTID remains committed to technological innovation. Through enhanced collaboration between industry, academia, and research, promoting the commercialization of research outputs and advocating for industrial modernization and sustainability, the center aims to offer Chinese wisdom and strength towards achieving a healthier world.
