JFE Tec Research Launches DX Basics Course
In a significant move towards enhancing digital transformation (DX) capabilities in the manufacturing sector, JFE Tec Research has announced the initiation of its new "DX Basics Course," effective from July 8. This course is part of the JFE Resolus® brand, which focuses on offering solutions specifically tailored for the manufacturing industry. Led by President Kazuhiro Hanazawa, JFE Tec Research aims to support manufacturers in their urgent need to strengthen competitiveness and boost productivity through effective DX strategies.
The Need for DX in Manufacturing
The urgency for adopting digital transformation in manufacturing businesses has never been greater. Companies are grappling with how to implement DX across their organizations, and what specific digital technologies they should embrace to transform their operations successfully. JFE Steel, through its internal initiative called "JFE College," has been conducting regular sessions to improve digital literacy and promote DX within the company. Building on the foundation laid by these internal courses, JFE Tec Research has developed the practical "DX Basics Course" tailored for external enterprises.
Overview of the DX Basics Course
The newly designed DX Basics Course draws on the content of JFE College, making it accessible for organizations outside the JFE Group. Aimed at enhancing the DX efforts of manufacturing companies, the course includes practical insights derived from JFE Steel's own experiences and case studies. The curriculum is divided into three main chapters:
Chapter 1: From Digitization to DX
This chapter targets all employees, including those in administrative roles. It discusses fundamental concepts essential for promoting DX, including the necessary mindset across all levels of an organization—from executives to operational staff—as well as the importance of establishing a collaborative framework and engaging in continuous PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) activities.
Chapter 2: Basics of Data Analysis and Modeling
Designed for manufacturing and equipment engineers, this section revolves around JFE's extensive experience and the pivotal techniques in data analysis. It details procedures for data examination, applicable technologies, and key points to consider. This chapter covers practical methods related to data-driven modeling, including principal component analysis, random forests, and neural networks.
Chapter 3: Fundamentals of Mathematical Optimization
Also targeting manufacturing and equipment engineers, this chapter delves into the basic concepts of mathematical optimization. It explains how to solve optimization problems and discusses logistics simulation within manufacturing environments, equipping engineers with necessary tools to optimize processes effectively.
