Getty Images to Capture Inspiring Moments at Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympics

Getty Images, a global leader in visual content creation and marketplace, has made an exciting announcement regarding the upcoming Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympics. As the official photo agency for the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), Getty Images will deploy a dedicated team of 30 professionals, including acclaimed photographers and editors, to capture the inspiring moments of this significant event.

With six distinct winter sports competitions taking place across five venues, Getty Images aims to provide comprehensive live coverage of all the events. Utilizing innovative technology, the team plans to deliver over 25,000 spectacular images from the opening ceremony on March 6 to the closing ceremony on March 15.

Ken Mainardis, Global Head of Editorial at Getty Images, expressed enthusiasm about their role in highlighting the visibility of athletes with disabilities during this milestone event: "We recognize the vital role the Winter Paralympics play in enhancing visibility for people with disabilities worldwide. It is an honor to be capturing the spirit of this year's event, which also commemorates the 50th anniversary of the first Winter Paralympics. Our team, comprising award-winning sports photographers and editors, is dedicated to documenting the extraordinary performances, determination, resilience, and achievements of the athletes embodying the Paralympic movement. We take pride in delivering these powerful stories to a global audience through our extensive distribution network, ensuring the impact of the Paralympics resonates worldwide."

In addition to its partnership with the IPC, Getty Images also supports the US Olympic and Paralympic movement as the official photographic licensee for Team USA and as an official licensee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Over the past 30 years, the company has established itself as a premier provider of authentic visual storytelling, producing award-winning photographs and videos that enable customers to convey the narratives of some of the world’s largest sporting events.

Currently, Getty Images holds official partnerships as a photographer or photo partner with over 135 leading sports organizations, leagues, and clubs, covering more than 50,000 sports events annually—a scale unmatched in the industry. Their commitment to the Paralympic movement goes beyond traditional editorial coverage; they are also dedicated to promoting authentic representations of disability through "The Disability Collection," aiming to challenge stereotypes and depict individuals within the disabled community with authenticity.

The Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympics will see participation from around 550 athletes from approximately 50 National Paralympic Committees (NPCs), competing for medals in six sports and 79 events.
