Granite Telecommunications Raises Over $580K for Breast Cancer Research Foundation

In a remarkable demonstration of corporate commitment to community health, Granite Telecommunications has announced that its second annual fundraising event, "Granite Gives Pink," has raised an impressive $583,000 for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). The event took place on October 22, 2026, and saw enthusiastic participation from more than 1,000 employees, building on a successful inaugural event last year that raised $500,000.

Granite, one of the leading providers of communications and technology solutions in North America, set a goal to support critical research aimed at improving outcomes for individuals affected by breast cancer. This year’s initiative involved a creative approach where the company pledged to donate $250 for every employee who wore pink, with the Hale family matching this contribution dollar for dollar. In addition, employees engaged through activities like raffle ticket sales and T-shirt purchases, all contributing to this massive sum.

During a vibrant company-wide town hall at Granite’s headquarters in Quincy, Massachusetts, key speakers addressed the importance of breast cancer awareness and research. Notable guests included Dr. Constance “Connie” Lehman, a leading figure in breast imaging and a BCRF-funded investigator, who shared insights on innovations in breast cancer risk assessment and prevention using advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence.

"Breast cancer affects so many people we love—our families, our friends, and our colleagues," expressed Rob Hale, Granite’s President and CEO. He emphasized the company’s responsibility to support and contribute to effective research, hoping that their efforts would help in the ongoing fight against this disease. He also acknowledged the tireless work of researchers who are dedicated to bringing new hope to patients.

Sana Sheikh, Granite's Chief People Officer, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the personal connections many employees have with breast cancer. For many, donning pink for the fundraiser is more than a gesture; it symbolizes support for loved ones currently battling the disease or honors those lost to it. Sheikh expressed gratitude for the collective effort and compassion shown by Granite team members, which translated into significant fundraising success.

The funds raised this year bring the total contributions from Granite’s "Granite Gives Pink" initiative to more than $1.08 million since its inception. In conjunction with this fundraising effort, the Hale family announced a groundbreaking $50 million donation to BCRF, marking the largest single donation ever made to breast cancer research. This transformational gift aims to propel innovative research in various critical areas, including treatments and prevention strategies for metastatic breast cancer.

Granite's support extends beyond just this annual event; it reflects the company's long-standing tradition of philanthropy. Since its founding, Granite has donated over $400 million to various charitable causes, emphasizing their commitment to social responsibility. The ongoing initiatives, such as the "Saving by Shaving" campaign that has raised over $62.7 million over the past 13 years, showcase Granite's dedication to making a difference in communities and for health research.
