Tokyo Station Hotel Celebrates 110 Years with Exquisite Japanese Sweets

Celebrate 110 Years of Elegance at Tokyo Station Hotel

Tokyo Station Hotel, nestled within the historic Marunouchi Station Building in Chiyoda, Tokyo, is set to celebrate its 110th anniversary this season. To mark this prestigious milestone, the hotel invites guests to experience a curated selection of Japanese-style sweets, available in the Lobby Lounge starting May 10th, 2025, until June 30th. The highlight of this seasonal offering includes delectable desserts infused with the rich aromas of matcha, sencha, and hojicha teas—a perfect way to usher in the early summer.

The lobby lounge offers a serene environment paired with the tantalizing delights of Japanese confectionery. One of the most anticipated items is the Matcha Mont Blanc. This exquisite dessert features a generous layering of matcha paste from Kochi's Shimanoto chestnuts, enveloping a filling of Tokachi's sweet red bean paste accented with black sugar jelly and domestically sourced shibukawa chestnuts and whipped cream. The dessert presents a harmonious blend of Japanese and Western flavors, striking a balance that is rich yet not overly sweet. Underneath, a layer of meringue adds a delightful lightness to every bite.

Next in line is the Sencha and Yuzu Chocolate Mousse, a sophisticated creation using Kyoto's Ichido tea as the base for its airy sponge cake and mousse. The mousse has a hint of aromatic white chocolate and is enriched with the refreshing puree of Kito yuzu from Tokushima, giving it a delightful finish. The subtle bitterness of the sencha and yuzu combines beautifully with sweetness, creating an exceptional flavor profile, complemented with adorable chickpea and chocolate garnishes.

The menu also features the Hojicha Brulee, offering creamy, caramelized perfection reminiscent of traditional Japanese desserts. Each bite reveals the deep flavors of hojicha, delighting the palate with a combination of hojicha-flavored whipped cream, Tokachi red bean paste, chewy mochi, and vanilla ice cream. Indulging in this dessert becomes a sensory experience akin to savoring a bowl of traditional zenzai, especially when paired with hojicha cookies or madeleines, which enhance the rich harmonie of flavors further.

Additionally, a Matcha Macaron is included, featuring a meticulously made shell enriched with matcha, cradling a refined bitter-sweet matcha ganache for an indulgent treat.

The Hojicha Latte, available during the same period, pairs beautifully with the nagomi wa sweets. Guests can choose between hot or iced options, with the smoothness of milk blending seamlessly with the bold flavors of roasted tea. The latte alone costs 2,200 yen, or becomes part of a delightful set for 5,000 yen with the nagomi wa sweets.

The Lobby Lounge operates daily from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, presenting a cozy yet elegant ambiance, enhanced by the shop's choices of well-blended coffee and a variety of flavorful teas. As part of the recent renovations, the lounge introduces a contemporary afternoon tea experience, expanding its menu options to cater to breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The luxurious design of The Lobby Lounge, conceived by London's Richmond International, blends European classic style with modern elements, creating a refined atmosphere for guests to enjoy. Three stunning chandeliers from Barovier & Toso, Venice's oldest glass manufacturer, enhance the elegant space.

With its meticulous redevelopment in 2012, Tokyo Station Hotel now boasts 150 rooms, 10 restaurants and bars, a fitness center, and spa facilities, all embodying 'Classic Luxury'—a commitment to creating unforgettable moments for guests. As one of the only hotels located within a registered Important Cultural Heritage site, it provides an exceptional backdrop for both leisure and business travelers.
