On December 10, 2024, EVE Energy proudly announced the mass production of its pioneering 628 Ah battery cell, officially launching at the company's new 60 GWh Super Energy Storage Factory in Jingmen, Hubei. This milestone positions EVE Energy not just as a market participant but as a market leader, as it has become the first in the industry to achieve mass production of battery cells with a capacity greater than 600 Ah.

Accelerating Towards Innovation



The global market for large-capacity batteries is tailored primarily for applications in energy storage systems. As insurers focus on energy-efficient solutions, EVE Energy's timely introduction of the 560 Ah cell back in 2022 has paved the way for further advancements. Just over a year since, the launch of the 628 Ah cell demonstrates how EVE Energy has not only kept pace but also innovated beyond what competitors offer. This significant leap in capacity not only reduces costs but simplifies energy systems, making them easier to integrate, thereby improving energy density and safety while cutting down on the number of components needed in the PACK phase.

Despite these benefits, challenges remain, particularly concerning thermal management and the overall efficiency of larger capacity battery cells. To address such critical issues, EVE Energy has joined forces with Professor Yang Hanxi from Wuhan University to innovate on the thermal management front. By developing an electrochemical collection model inspired by automotive engineering principles, the company has optimized components like the collector support thickness, tab positioning, and terminal shapes to facilitate swift electron migration and consequently lower internal resistance, thereby reducing heat generation during operation.

Smart Battery Technology for Enhanced Safety



Additionally, EVE Energy introduced an intelligent battery cell technology, a first in the industry, during the factory inauguration. This technology is akin to smartwatches monitoring vital signs, continuously tracking real-time data related to gases, temperature, and other critical metrics throughout the battery's life cycle. By capturing this data, the technology allows for prompt alerts and responses to any anomalies, effectively upgrading safety protocols in battery management.

Industrial Innovation Meets Large-Scale Production



The newly launched 60 GWh Super Energy Storage Factory embodies the future of battery manufacturing, employing over 80 cutting-edge industrial technologies and emphasizing automated and low-carbon processes. Notably, this smart factory achieves a staggering production speed of producing 1.5 battery cells every second and completes battery packs at a remarkable pace, producing over 40 containers of 5 MWh daily. Such efficiency means that in a matter of days, the factory can generate enough power to supply electricity for approximately 300,000 households annually.

The strategic location of the factory, combined with vertical integration with its supply chain, enhances logistical efficiency, thus reducing costs and promoting sustainable operational practices. Quality control measures are rigorous, boasting an impressive defect rate within the Parts Per Billion (PPB) range, thanks to their extensive manufacturing standards and cleanliness protocols, from macro dust control to micro-level particle management.
