On December 24, 2024, Shanghai Electric successfully concluded an intensive eight-day training program for twenty employees from the Thar Coalfield Block I Energy Integration Project in Pakistan. This initiative underscores the company's commitment to fostering professional development in modern energy and industrial sectors by nurturing local talent essential for sustainable growth.
The program took place in Shanghai and Beijing, providing participants with hands-on learning opportunities and in-depth insights into energy sector advancements. Employees occupying various management and technical roles were immersed in an array of activities designed to equip them with the latest knowledge in energy and industrial development. Highlights included workshops on corporate culture and advanced technologies at Shanghai Electric, as well as a tour of the manufacturing site of the Shanghai Boiler Factory. The group also visited the headquarters of Shanghai Electric, where they learned about the company’s vision of "Creating Our Future Together," enhancing their understanding of the company's approach to innovation and collaboration.
One participant, Zia ul Qama, a commercial operations manager for the Thar project, reflected on the enriching experience, stating, "Observing China's rich culture while learning more about Shanghai Electric's activities was inspiring. This program motivated me to strive harder toward achieving both the company’s objectives and my personal learning goals."
The Thar Coalfield Block 1 Energy Integration Project, operational since February 2023, plays a critical role in meeting Pakistan’s energy demands, boasting an annual output of 9 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, sufficient to power nearly 4 million households. This project stands as a representation of Shanghai Electric's commitment to promoting sustainable growth and social progress.
Further underlining their dedication, Shanghai Electric is actively engaging in gender empowerment initiatives, collaborating with projects aimed at creating a supportive and equitable work environment. This event celebrated the tenth anniversary of the launch of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), emphasizing the importance of cross-border collaboration in realizing mutual development goals.
