First Ever Ghost in the Shell Exhibition Events in History: Special Talks and Performances

Ghost in the Shell Exhibition: A Celebratory Spectacle

The Ghost in the Shell Exhibition, organized by the production committee consisting of Kodansha, Mori Building, KDDI, Production IG, Parco, and Bandai Namco Filmworks, is set to take place from January 30 to April 5, 2026, within the stunning TOKYO NODE GALLERY located on the 45th floor of Toranomon Hills Station Tower. This event marks the 30th anniversary of the beloved anime, expanding beyond mere appreciation of its world into a dynamic program of dialogue, music, and visual arts.

A Unique Celebration

This exhibition is unprecedented in its scale—featuring over 30 special events with more than 90 artists and creators joining together. The event aims to deepen the connection between the audience and the Ghost in the Shell universe through various innovative formats.

The exhibition will prominently showcase the Talk Series: “DIALOGUE of Ghost and the Shell”, where notable cultural figures such as director Kenji Kamiyama and Hiroshi Miyata engage in discussions about the themes and technological reflections found within the series. Around 20 sessions are planned, each exploring different aspects like artificial intelligence, music, fashion, and narrative.

Weekend Night Museum

In addition, the Weekend Night Museum: “REFLEX of Ghost and the Shell” will offer a unique Audio Visual experience. This four-part series will highlight the convergence of visual art, music, and technology, inviting audiences to immerse themselves in the holographic future depicted in the anime. Noteworthy performances include those by famous artists such as Licaxxx, Mars89, YOSHIROTTEN, and others, each providing their individual artistic lens on the Ghost in the Shell narrative.

Exclusive Music Bar Experience

A special four-day event is also set to occur— recreating MUSIC BAR “FIRN”, an establishment evoking the atmosphere of Niihama City featured in the S.A.C. series. This pop-up bar, operational from February 11 to 14, will feature live performances from various musicians while providing a unique setting where guests can engage with the art both visually and auditorily.

Highlights of the FIRN schedule include:
  • - February 11: Performance by Kenji Kawai leading into discussions about the musical legacy of the series.
  • - February 12: An exploration of internet music connections by artists from diverse backgrounds.
  • - February 13: A high-energy night symbolizing the club atmosphere in a fictional future city.
  • - February 14: An introspective closing night focusing on the evolution of electronic music and its correlation to the series.

Special Circuit Event

Not stopping at the above, a unique special circuit event titled “DEEP DIVE / Ghost in the Shell in TOKYO NODE” is also set to unfold on March 7, showcasing a plethora of artistic interpretations interacting throughout various spaces of the gallery. Details regarding ticketing and participation will be revealed closer to the event date.

Collaborative Artist Displays

Additionally, the exhibition will unveil collaborative works from six artists, who will present pieces inspired by the themes posed by Ghost in the Shell, providing modern interpretations resonating with today’s audience.
Participating artists include: Takashi Ikegami, Mari Katayama, Emi Kusano, Motoi Sakuraba, UNLABELED, and Kunihiko Morinaga from ANREALAGE.

In summary, the Ghost in the Shell Exhibition aims to provide attendees not just a visual feast but also a deeper exploration of what it means to connect with the Ghost in the Shell world. It promises to be a festival of creativity and intellect that no fan should miss.
