EXPO 2027 Belgrade Launches 'Visit Serbia' Campaign in Bratislava

In a significant move ahead of the highly anticipated EXPO 2027 in Belgrade, the 'Visit Serbia' campaign was recently launched in Bratislava. The initiative aims to strengthen business ties and tourism opportunities between Serbia and Slovakia, marking a vital step for the Western Balkans just before the region's first specialized expo.

Event Highlights

The roadshow brought together representatives from both Serbia and Slovakia's travel and business sectors, fostering a collaborative atmosphere ripe for creating new partnerships. The event featured presentations and B2B meetings tailored for Slovak travel agencies, tour operators, and business leaders looking to explore Serbia’s rich offerings.

Scheduled to run from May 15 to August 15, 2027, the EXPO will be centered around the theme 'Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All.' More than 135 countries are already confirmed to participate, and the event is expected to attract a staggering number of visitors over its 93 days of celebration.

Igor Kovačević, the Executive Director of EXPO 2027 Belgrade, emphasized the significance of Slovakia's early commitment, stating, "Slovakia was the first country to sign the Participation Contract for EXPO 2027, showcasing the robust connections between our business communities." He also extended an invitation to Slovak travel professionals, urging them to develop unique itineraries that allow people to experience the allure of Serbia firsthand.

Trade and Economic Connections

Slovakia’s Commissioner General for EXPO 2027 Belgrade, Lukáš Parízek, highlighted the country’s preparations for a national presence at the expo, focusing on the tangible trade benefits that Slovak delegates can expect. Notably, Serbia stands as Slovakia's most important trading partner in the Western Balkans, with bilateral trade valued at approximately EUR 1.3 billion in 2025, reflecting a notable annual growth of 15 percent according to the Slovak Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.

Matej Fekete, Director General of SLOVAKIA TRAVEL, added, "EXPO 2027 Belgrade is much more than just a 93-day international event. It serves as a global platform for destinations to enhance their visibility, establish partnerships, and inspire future travel."

The 'Visit Serbia' campaign strives to promote and highlight Serbia’s historic sites, stunning cities, beautiful mountains, wellness spas, delicious cuisine, and warm hospitality. This campaign not only aims to attract tourists but also to create an avenue for mutual economic growth between the two nations.

As preparations for EXPO 2027 continue, the collaborative efforts between Serbia and Slovakia signal optimistic prospects for a fruitful partnership. Both nations anticipate that the expo will not only increase tourism but also strengthen economic ties long into the future.

With such promising initiatives underway, Serbia stands ready to welcome visitors and business partners alike, offering a glimpse into its vibrant culture and potential. The launch of the 'Visit Serbia' campaign could very well mark the beginning of a new era of partnership between Serbia and Slovakia, expanding opportunities for exploration, collaboration, and mutual success.
