LG Display Launches World's First 240Hz RGB Stripe OLED Panel for Monitors

LG Display Launches Groundbreaking OLED Monitor Panel

In a significant advancement in display technology, LG Display has unveiled the world’s first 27-inch 4K OLED monitor featuring an innovative RGB stripe structure and an impressive refresh rate of 240Hz. This state-of-the-art panel will be showcased at CES 2026, the premier event in the IT and consumer electronics industry.

RGB Stripe Structure: A New Era for Display Quality

The RGB stripe structure uniquely organizes the panel's three primary color subpixels—red, green, and blue—in a linear formation. This groundbreaking design dramatically minimizes visual distortions, including color bleeding and fringing, ensuring a breathtaking viewing experience without sacrificing detail, even at close range.

Traditional OLED panels using RGB stripe technology previously only achieved maximum refresh rates of around 60Hz, making them unsuitable for gaming applications. LG Display's new offering is a game-changer, as it is the first to successfully combine a high refresh rate of 240Hz with the RGB stripe structure.

Developed with LG Display’s proprietary Dynamic Frequency Resolution (DFR) technology, users can seamlessly switch between high-resolution (UHD at 240Hz) and high-refresh-rate (FHD at 480Hz) modes. This flexibility makes it ideal not only for high-intensity gaming but also for professional environments requiring crisp text readability and accurate color rendering. With a pixel density of 160 pixels per inch (ppi), users can expect environments with exceptional detail and clarity.

Targeting the Gaming and Professional Markets

LG Display’s strategy includes the initial rollout of this new pixel structure within its portfolio of high-end gaming and professional monitors. The company is expected to actively promote this technology at the upcoming CES event, aiming to expand its market footprint significantly.

The current landscape for high-end gaming OLED monitors typically employs RGWB structures, which include an additional white subpixel. However, LG Display’s innovative RGB stripe technology offers a significant enhancement by increasing the aperture ratio—the proportion of pixel area that illuminates—effectively providing higher brightness and contrast levels. This unique combination is what positions LG Display at the forefront of the monitor market.

With this new RGB stripe OLED panel, LG Display is poised to solidify its dominance in the high-end monitor segment. The company is already producing around 30% of globally shipped OLED monitor panels. As of now, LG Display holds top titles across various categories for gaming OLED panels, including refresh rate, response time, and resolution, underscoring its technological superiority.

Commitment to Innovation

Lee Hyun-woo, Head of the Large Display Business Unit at LG Display, emphasized, "Technology is the foundation of leadership in the rapidly growing OLED monitor market. We aim to enhance our global leadership by focusing on differentiated technologies that meet customer demands and hold substantial business potential."

As LG Display continues to innovate and push the boundaries of display technology, industry experts and consumers alike will be eagerly waiting to see how this newly launched OLED panel will reshape their visual experiences and expectations.
