Exploring the Frontiers of Hydrogen and Ammonia Production by JGC Group: Seminar Insights

JGC Group Seminar on Hydrogen and Ammonia Production

On July 25, 2025, JPI (Japan Planning Institute) will host a significant seminar focusing on the innovative developments in hydrogen and ammonia production technologies by the JGC Group. Mr. Takakawa Muneya, the Assistant Program Manager of the Sustainability Co-Creation Unit at JGC Holdings, will share insights into their pioneering efforts in the field.

Event Overview

The seminar aims to highlight the advancements in hydrogen and ammonia production, emphasizing their importance in achieving a low-carbon society. Hydrogen has been long recognized for its potential as a next-generation energy source as well as an industrial gas and chemical material. Ammonia, originally used primarily for fertilizers and industrial applications, is now gaining attention for its role as a fuel and hydrogen carrier, with expectations of increased demand in the near future. The focus will be on the production of clean hydrogen and ammonia while minimizing CO2 emissions during manufacturing.

Key Topics Covered

During the seminar, Mr. Takakawa will explore various key areas, including:
1. Basics of Clean Hydrogen and Ammonia
2. Methods for Producing Clean Hydrogen and Ammonia
3. JGC Group's Initiatives and Technologies
4. Q&A Session
5. Networking and Exchange Opportunities

These topics will elucidate how JGC Group addresses the design and operational challenges associated with hydrogen and ammonia production, particularly when harnessing variable renewable energy sources. The discussion will also elaborate on the research and development of large-scale external heating ammonia decomposition technology being pursued under NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization) to establish a stable hydrogen supply chain.

Networking Opportunities

One of the unique aspects of the seminar is the opportunity for participants to exchange business cards and foster connections with each other and the speaker. This networking component is designed to enhance professional relationships that could potentially lead to business expansion and collaboration.
