HLC and CEC Collaborate to Develop Offsite Corporate PPA Solar Projects

HLC and CEC Join Hands for Renewable Energy Initiatives

In a significant move toward achieving their carbon neutrality goals, Hulic Co., Ltd. (HLC), Hulic Energy Solutions Corp. (HES), and Clean Energy Connect Inc. (CEC) have partnered to launch an offsite corporate Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) service. This collaboration aims to develop and operate approximately 800 non-FIT solar power facilities, contributing to a total of around 70 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy. Starting from July 2026, the new energy supplies will be incrementally made available to HLC facilities through HES, which is the retail electricity provider for the Hulic Group.

Background and Expected Impact

The venture aligns with Japan's government aim for carbon neutrality by 2050. HLC has been actively working to lower greenhouse gas emissions to meet these targets. One notable objective is to transition all electrical power used in their properties to 100% renewable energy by 2029. To achieve this, the company plans to develop new renewable energy generation facilities, including solar power installations.

The offsite corporate PPA model is garnering attention for allowing businesses to secure stable access to renewable energy over the long term. Additionally, leveraging distributed generation systems is expected to contribute to environmental sustainability and foster a harmonious relationship with local communities.

The anticipated energy supply from this collaborative project will amount to 73 gigawatt-hours (GWh) annually, equating to around 20% of the Hulic Group’s total annual energy consumption.

Enhancing Regional Resilience to Disasters
