Interestingly, survey results revealed that about 51.6% of respondents fall into the category of spending up to 5,000 yen on fandom activities each month, with an additional 18.4% spending between 5,001 to 10,000 yen. This indicates that roughly 70% of fandom enthusiasts engage in activities with a monthly budget of under 10,000 yen.

Younger Generations Dive Deeper


When analyzed by age group, significant differences emerge. For individuals in their 50s and 60s, 69% and 67%, respectively, reported spending up to 5,000 yen. Conversely, 31% of those in their 20s indicated they allocate over 30,000 yen monthly, marking the highest spending group across all ages. The prevalence of digital payments and subscription-based services among younger fans likely contributes to this trend. As single individuals, they enjoy greater flexibility in budgeting for fandom activities, which brings them closer to their favorites.

Differences Between Marital Status


The study also revealed a stark contrast between single and married individuals concerning spending habits. Unmarried respondents were notably more inclined to report spending over 10,000 yen, indicating that marriage may influence financial priorities toward household expenses. On the opposite end, married individuals tended to keep their fandom budgets lower, especially when household costs such as mortgages and education are shared responsibilities.

Income Does Not Dictate Passion


Interestingly, income levels do not seem to dictate one's involvement in fandom activities. Among participants with household incomes below 5 million yen or between 5 million and 10 million yen, those spending up to 5,000 yen dominated. Yet those allocating 5,001 yen and above remained present across various income brackets, highlighting a strong, unyielding fanbase.
