Experience 'Art Room Ghost' by Tsukue Akimoto at YUGEN Gallery Fukuoka

From November 15 to 27, 2025, YUGEN Gallery Fukuoka will host an exciting solo exhibition by the renowned artist Tsukue Akimoto, titled Art Room Ghost. About Tsukue Akimoto

Tsukue Akimoto, who started his career as a manga artist and illustrator after winning the second Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shimbun Manga Award in 2012, has made significant strides in the art world. With a reputation solidified during the UNKNOWN ASIA art fair in 2017, he has since showcased his works in numerous solo exhibitions across Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan, and has actively participated in international art fairs.

The theme of this exhibition reflects Akimoto's return to his artistic roots in a place reminiscent of handmade creativity, the “Art Room.” The term “Ghost” symbolizes the artist's lingering connection to this space he fondly remembers. As he explores the idea of the “ghost of the art room,” Akimoto challenges the constraints of society and the art system, aiming to stay true to the essence of creating.

Exhibition Highlights

This exhibition will present a series of new works where Akimoto combines his painting skills with collage techniques, offering a fresh perspective on his practice. Visitors can look forward to exclusive original merchandise, including a vibrant array of ZINES and creative T-shirts that embody Akimoto’s artistic vision. Those eager to collect limited edition items should arrive early, as some pieces may sell out quickly.
