Planet Fitness Unveils Free Summer Access for Teens with High School Summer Pass Program
Planet Fitness: Championing Teen Wellness This Summer
In a move aimed at promoting mental and physical health among teenagers, Planet Fitness has announced the return of its impactful High School Summer Pass® program, now in its sixth year. This initiative, which opens the doors of its gyms to high school students for free all summer long, aligns perfectly with the gym’s mission to create a welcoming environment that fosters fitness and well-being.
A Summer Full of Opportunities for Teens
Starting June 1 and running until August 31, teens aged 14 to 19 can enjoy complimentary access to over 2,900 Planet Fitness locations across the United States and Canada. Interested teens can easily register at PlanetFitness.com/SummerPass. This year, are also exciting benefits brought to the program by the renowned gymwear brand Gymshark, which will provide exclusive discounts to all participants.
The High School Summer Pass® gives teens the chance to not only engage in fitness activities but to also develop essential wellness habits that can last a lifetime.
Comprehensive Fitness Access and Support
During the program, participants will have unrestricted access to a wide range of fitness facilities, including top-tier strength training equipment, cardio machines, and ample stretching and recovery areas. Additionally, certified trainers will be available for guidance, further enhancing the overall gym experience. With the introduction of the free Planet Fitness App, teens can take advantage of hundreds of on-demand workout sessions to stay active whenever it's convenient for them, no matter their fitness level.
Addressing Teen Mental Health
With growing concerns surrounding teen mental health, Planet Fitness conducted a nationwide survey revealing startling insights into the well-being of today’s youth. The results showed that 95% of teens face emotional or mental challenges, with many struggling with anxiety and body image issues. However, exercise emerged as a powerful remedy, with 95% of respondents acknowledging its positive impact on managing life's pressures. The survey highlighted that nearly 66% feel a sense of pride from working out, and 53% noted an increase in self-confidence as a direct result of their fitness endeavors.
By removing financial barriers and fostering a non-judgmental atmosphere, the High School Summer Pass® is designed to encourage teens from all walks of life to prioritize fitness. 70% of respondents cited obstacles like time constraints, financial limitations, and self-consciousness as barriers to consistent gym attendance. Remarkably, 83% expressed a willingness to work out in a gym if offered free access, reinforcing the program’s potential impact.
Partners in Fitness
The collaboration with Gymshark not only strengthens Planet Fitness's mission to support young athletes but also facilitates the provision of stylish workout gear encouraging teens to feel confident while exercising. With endorsements from sports icons like Allyson Felix and Flau'jae Johnson, the campaign aims to inspire a generation to adopt health-conscious habits during formative years.
Embracing the Gym Community
As part of this initiative, Planet Fitness will host Open House events in clubs nationwide. These events will welcome teens and their families to explore the gym, engage with club staff, and get acquainted with the supportive, Judgement Free Zone® environment. Registrants will receive helpful information throughout their gym experience to ensure a smooth and comfortable start.
