Appian Unveils Winners of the 2026 North American Innovation Awards

In a momentous event held during the annual Appian World conference in Orlando, Florida, Appian [Nasdaq: APPN] proudly announced the winners of the North American 2026 Innovation Awards. These prestigious accolades recognize organizations that have successfully integrated AI into their core processes to yield significant business outcomes.

This year's awards ceremony focused on how "Serious AI" can transcend beyond simple experimentation, effectively embedding itself into fundamental enterprise operations. The winners exemplified this paradigm shift, leveraging AI agents, process orchestration, and a coherent data platform to achieve remarkable operational efficiency.

Neil Ward-Dutton, Vice President of Global Agentic Automation and AI Technologies at IDC, greeted this year's winners and emphasized the transformative capabilities these technologies offer. "The industry has advanced beyond mere experimentation; today, the role of AI in enhancing operational processes is undeniably crucial. The awarded organizations illustrate the immense value of modern process platforms, streamlining operations and enhancing consistency while driving outcomes on a large scale," he remarked.

Highlights of the Winners

The winners of the 2026 Innovation Awards were validated by industry experts Neil Ward-Dutton from IDC and Appian’s own Pavel Zamudio-Ramirez. Their outstanding contributions include the following:

1. AARP: By employing AI, AARP modernized its internal processes, particularly focusing on invoice management. This transition eliminates bottlenecks and accelerates vendor payment approvals. The automation allows AARP staff to dedicate more time to enriching member experiences, ultimately enhancing the lives of Americans aged 50 and older by supporting their health and financial security.

2. Carlyle: The investment giant transformed its payment processes to increase efficiency and transparency. Their Global Payment Management program standardized practices across different teams, ensuring timely payment processing while providing real-time insights. This amplified financial control and significantly reduced invoice-to-payment cycle times.

3. Global Excel Management (GEM): Faced with cumbersome manual claims processing, GEM adopted the Appian Connected Claims platform. This transition centralizes the claims ecosystem and employs AI for streamlined summaries, resulting in a significant productivity boost above 50% and a drastic reduction in manual interventions that improved service delivery for their worldwide clientele.

4. Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc.: Regeneron spearheaded an innovative approach toward study design, effectively embedding generative AI in a structured process. This integration fosters cross-functional collaboration while enhancing workflow consistency and reducing cycle times, effectively maintaining rigorous operational standards despite scaling challenges.

5. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA): The FAA's Aircraft Certification Service developed an automated, unified compliance system aided by Appian’s Data Fabric. This initiative eradicates the inefficiencies of manual administrative tasks, allowing Aviation Safety Inspectors to reclaim thousands of hours that can be pivotal for crucial regulatory oversight.

6. Acclaim Autism: Recognizing the impact of waiting times on patient care, Acclaim Autism implemented an AI-driven onboarding system. This innovative approach not only reduces onboarding times from six months to less than a week but also increases the monthly onboarding rate by 15 times, directly benefiting patients in need.

Pavel Zamudio-Ramirez, Chief Customer Officer at Appian, stated, "Our North American award winners are a benchmark of what's achievable when organizations transition from viewing AI as mere assistance to appreciating its value in structured processes. These winners do more than optimize operations; they create substantial, measurable impacts utilizing AI strategically to enhance their processes and outcomes."
