Celebrating a Milestone: 50th Annual Environmental Safety Promotion Conference
On June 10, 2026, Watering Inc. (President: Masaki Yasuda, HQ: Minato, Tokyo) hosted its 50th Annual Environmental Safety Promotion Conference in Otemachi, Chiyoda, Tokyo. This significant event aimed to enhance the safety awareness of the company's employees and members of the Environmental Safety Cooperation Association while reinforcing commitment to achieving an accident-free and disaster-free workplace.
Background and Purpose
The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare has initiated a National Safety Week, focusing on promoting voluntary activities within the industry to prevent occupational accidents. This initiative runs from July 1 to July 7, with June designated as a preparatory period. The timing of this conference aligns with the preparatory period, allowing Watering Inc. to strengthen safety culture among its employees and partners, fostering a shared commitment to zero accidents.
Thus, this conference serves not only as a milestone celebration but also as a reaffirmation of the group's dedication to enhancing safety practices, reflecting on the progress made and the areas that require focused attention to improve safety outcomes.
Report on Safety Management
During the conference, Watering Inc. presented a comprehensive report on safety management, detailing incident statistics for 2025, the underlying factors, and future focus areas. It was noted that a significant number of occupational accidents last year were classified as non-injury incidents, showcasing some progress in reducing severe accidents leading to absenteeism. However, risks of conditions such as insect bites, heatstroke, slips, falls, cuts, traffic accidents, and similar incidents remained concerningly high, necessitating continued preventative measures.
Discussions highlighted several challenges contributing to these incidents, including oversight of hazards during the planning phase, insufficient risk assessments, neglect in pre-work checks, and variability in sensitivity to dangers among workers. Participants acknowledged the necessity of a proactive safety management approach that leverages near-miss incidents and reinforces education and training to prevent accidents before they occur.
Key Focus Areas for 2026
Moving forward, Watering Inc. has set the following priorities:
1.
Effective dissemination and execution of the health and safety policy.
2.
Thorough prevention of recurring similar accidents.
3.
Strengthening education and training to enhance hazard sensitivity.
4.
Ongoing awareness of seasonal hazards.
