This summer, the 1st Sumida Ramen Festival, an event dedicated to celebrating the art of ramen, will be held at the 7th-floor event space of Kinshicho Marui in Tokyo. This festival is not just about tasting ramen; it’s about supporting the passionate chefs behind each bowl, all working to share their culinary heritage with ramen lovers.

What is the 1st Sumida Ramen Festival?


The festival showcases ramen shops that include a mix of Michelin-starred establishments and award-winning shops from across Japan. With a variety of revered ramen creators participating, this festival will celebrate the craftsmanship that goes into creating this beloved dish. Notably, some shops that have closed doors will make a limited-time comeback, showcasing their signature flavors once again.

  • - Kujira Shokudo (Tokyo, Koganei)
  • - Yunodai Shokudo (Akita, Nikaho)

Every bowl of ramen serves as a testament to the chef's dedication, from the techniques honed over years to the appreciation for the community that supports them, encapsulating their hopes to welcome diners again. This project allows attendees to lend their support through the simple act of enjoying a delicious bowl of ramen.

Celebrated Ramen Shops and Their Specialties


As part of the festival, we'll feature unique offerings from each shop:

Yunodai Shokudo (Akita)

Dates: August 2 (Sat) and 3 (Sun)
Here, artisans blend local Akita ingredients with expert techniques to craft a bowl of ramen you won't forget. Their amber-colored broth shimmer with depth, complemented by home-made noodles that embody a chewy, perfect texture. As a popular destination, Yunodai Shokudo is a must-visit for ramen lovers. Each bite delivers an experience that transcends ordinary dining.

Kujira Shokudo (Tokyo)

Dates: August 9 (Sat) to 11 (Mon/Holiday)
Kujira Shokudo, a gem from Tokyo's Tama region, is celebrated for its achievements in ramen competitions. Its handmade noodles, golden broth, and perfectly prepared chashu create an unforgettable taste experience. Focused on delivering a bowl that’s enjoyable every day, their ramen blends traditional and modern elements seamlessly.

Kanekitchen Noodle (Limited Revival)

Dates: August 16 (Sat) and 17 (Sun)
Once a cherished spot in Tokyo’s Higashi-Nagasaki, Kanekitchen Noodle is making a temporary comeback under the skilled hands of its original chef. Known for its exquisite soup that merges French and Japanese culinary techniques, it aims to bring warmth back to its fans. Their signature soy ramen, rich with chicken umami and served with a side of delicate, straight noodles, remains a timeless classic that captivates new fans as well.
