Angelalign to Appeal Court Ruling
Angelalign Technology Inc., trading under the symbol 6699.HK, has decided to challenge a recent ruling by the Jinan Intermediate People's Court in China. This ruling, dated August 10, mandated Angel to cease the utilization of its masterForce biomechanical simulation system and the ATreat diagnostic and design platform, which are integral to their premolar extraction solutions, specifically the A7 and A7 Speed.
However, the company emphasized that this preliminary ruling has not yet taken effect and will not impact its customers or patients at present. The enforcement of the court's decision hinges on the outcome of Angel's forthcoming appeal. Angelalign firmly believes that the A7 extraction solution does not infringe on any existing patent rights. The company has a strong track record of winning patent-related disputes across various jurisdictions globally, demonstrating its commitment to fair competition in the orthodontic market.
CEO Fox Hu stated, "The court's decision is limited solely to China and does not have an immediate effect on our customers there. We're encouraged by the support we've been receiving from orthodontists worldwide for our professional solutions. Given our past wins in similar cases, we are optimistic about a favorable outcome in this appeal against our competitor."
On May 12, 2026, a preliminary ruling from the local division of the Unified Patent Court in Düsseldorf, Germany, explicitly rejected the plaintiff's request for a preliminary injunction against Angel for using the A7 solution. The plaintiff did not appeal the decision, rendering it final. The focus of the ongoing legal battle involves a contested patent group shared between European and Chinese patents regarding the extraction solution from Jinan.
Furthermore, on June 26, 2026, the Zhengzhou Intermediate People's Court ruled favorably for Angel in two separate patent infringement cases brought against it by the same plaintiff, dismissing all claims. The plaintiff has since appealed those rulings.
Angelalign has established a solid reputation over its twenty-plus years in business, particularly in innovation and respect for intellectual property. Many leading orthodontists, even from rival companies, recognize Angel-brand as an authority in treating complex orthodontic cases. Some competitors have started to emulate Angel’s advancements, such as the angelButton™ solution and the A6 Mandibular Advancement System.
With a market capitalization of $2 billion and strong profitability, alongside a substantial balance sheet and a committed global team, Angelalign continues to partner with orthodontists to deliver exceptional clinical outcomes.
The Chinese court case is part of wider litigation initiated by Align Technology Inc. (ALGN), claiming patent infringement, which Angelalign rebuffs. More information regarding the legal proceedings can be found on their official website:
